I hope he gets to bring it home with him. I know being Pope must really suck (it’s a tough job and you never get any rest). I also have a grey tabby cat and these animals are fun and funny and they could be a good stress-reliever.

Unfortunately, no. Apparently you can’t have a cat in Vatican City. It was addressed on another thread (which I’ll link to if I can find it).

OTOH, I do believe the Holy Father has “adopted” many of Rome’s stray cats, and feeds them…

Did the Pope actually get a kitten which supposedly was to be offered to him?

Organizers of the Catholic youth festival in Sydney say they borrowed a gray cat named Bella to help the feline-loving pontiff pass the time at his retreat in Australia’s bush country, according to front-page stories in Australian newspapers Tuesday.

But Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi, pressed by reporters, said he has no knowledge of any cat.

Interesting that our “German Shepherd” likes cats.

I saw a picture here years ago of a German Shepherd sleeping with a cat curled with the dog. I can’t seem to find it…
