Pope: Heath Care Access a Right, Not Abortion or Euthanasia

The Vatican – In a message at a health care conference read for the Pope Benedict XVI, the Catholic Church leader said access to health care is a right but not abortion, euthanasia or other practices destroying human life.

If it’s a right, how do we pay for it? Why should I be forced to pay for yours? What if, in government run health care, we’ll pay for someone abortion or gender change?

I have enormous respect for the holy father. However, I find alot of his personal teachings on government lacking.

He said health care is a right and that nations need to ensure access to health care.

He didn’t say that a government has the right to force national care health on its tax payers.

My bad. I must have misunderstood.

I don’t know what you mean by “force,” but according to the article the Pope said:
The Pontiff said nations have a moral responsibility to guarantee access to health care for all citizens, calling medical treatment one of the “inalienable rights.”
The english version is not yet up on the Vatican website, but that sounds like a pretty strong endorsement of universal health care to me.

My bad, no wait. The American tax payers didn’t vote on national health care.

A Democratic lead House, Senate and President pushed the Amendment through without understanding or reading the entire bill.
