Can anyone here recommend a good book (or books) about the history of the popes?

I was hoping for a book that accurately lists the popes and tells each one’s life in some detail.

God Bless!

You might simply look at the Old Catholic Encyclopedia.

From this list of popes, you can click on each name and it takes you to an article about them, up through Pius X. For the popes of the last 100 years, you can look at their bios on the Vatican website.
