When Pope Leo II confirmed the council (including Honorius’s condemnation) he made it clear that will Honorius did Not endorse the Monothelite heresy of Sergius, he failed in his duty to condemn it. When Sergius had written asking whether Jesus had one or two “operations” (wills), Honorius laid a blanket condemnation of both manners of phraseology. The language was loose and failed to definitively state the hypostatic union. This failure was used by some to bolster their cause of the Monothelitism heresy. So he was condemned for negligence.defend him
