i’m sorry you had to hear it from Catholics that pope joan existed. she really didn’t.

i wish i’d learned some spanish, but anyway, don’t worry about that silly post. you’re very welcome here, jew_man! :blessyou:
Thank you. I appreciate that. He only made himself look foolish, not me. I plan to tell my choir director about the fictitious Pope Joan, because she really does believe that this woman existed. I don’t want her believing a lie.

Thank you for the compliment! I’m glad you enjoy them! 🙂

An interesting point Patrick Madrid made was that EVEN IF the story were true (which it isn’t) it only would have been a case of deception.
In other words…the myth does not claim that a woman was willingly selected pope by the bishops -with them knowing the new pope was a “she”
The myth claims she was disguised and her gender was discovered after her appointment.
If this really HAD happened (which it didn’t) it would have meant she was invalidly selected, and a new conclave would have been called. She would not have been recognized as “pope” - but as an imposter and her “papacy” would been considered as a period of vacancy.

hey I’m so happy for you, Jew Man! I thank God for bringing you home to Rome. Converts to the Catholic faith are one of the many reasons why I continue to appreciate my faith. God bless you! 😉

Good for you, J-M! I pray she will be open to the truth. Too often those with cherished opinions that have no basis in fact prefer their opinion to the truth presented to them. I hope such isn’t the case with your choir director.

(I see you are also in North Carolina; perhaps we’re neighbors. 🙂 )

Thank you for that point! I need to tell my choir director! 🙂

I have a STACK of research I’m giving her tonight! She cfan’t refute it! :dancing:

(Are you near Currituck County, Elizabeth City, or the Outer Banks? If so, we are neighbors! 😃 )

JM,

Be prepared, she may still hold firm to her views, despite what evidence you have to the contrary. Not all “catholics” are Catholic in all their views. This is something we all encounter. It is good that you are providing her with good information, but be prepared for her to possibly not be open to being corrected. Some are quite happy to get “the real scoop”, but others are not so ready for the info.

I gave her the information last night. I’m going to see her Friday for my voice lesson and ask her what she thought of it. I’ll let you know. I hope she sees the truth about it.

i hope so too!

Give us her first name, we’ll add her to our prayers.

Oh, and I’m going to be seeing someone with whom I haven’t been getting along. Pray for me this afternoon.

Thanks,

CARose

Hi everyone,

My choir director told me this morning that there was one female Pope in the history of the Church. I expressed my unbelief at this, but two other women on my choir backed her up. Is this true? I find it extremely hard to believe. If anyone knows anything about this, please help, thanks.

By the way, they told me her name was Pope Joan, hence the title of this thread.
No, not only has there never been a female Pope, there has never been a female Cardinal, nor bishop, nor priest.

Sure thing. I’ll be praying!

And her name is Joan. (Seriously, it is.) Also pray for her because she’s been experiencing some real trials that have battered her faith in the past year too. She’s hanging on to G-d through it all. Please pray that she continues.

Thanks for your prayers. The afternoon went well. Now I’ve got some deskwork deadlines due by the 31st that I’m trying to get out of the way, any more prayers out there! 🙂

I’ve certainly added Joan to my prayers, and I’ll include the challenges she’s encountered that have shaken her faith. I’m glad to know that she’s hanging in there. Perhaps this is her opportunity to get even closer to God than she was before.

God Bless you for bringing her the information on Pope Joan with Charity,

CARose
