Pope: Listen to Your Guardian Angel

I’ve never felt the presence of my angel, don’t know where he is? 🤷

Does anyone here care to share how they know it’s their guardian angel and how they relate/feel/communicate with their angel?
 
Saving grace, you might be interested in a particular book that helped me to “see” the spiritual reality a lot more clearly. It’s called, “Angels All Around Us.”, written by Catholic author, Anthony DeStefano. I think it will answer your question and then some!

I felt the presence of mine. I can’t put it into words, but the mere presence of him was as if I was swallowing the entire universe. It was so potent I can’t explain. The love was so immense that it paralyzed me. And that was just a lower rank angel.
There was no wings, halo, nothing like that. A huge light, a living light. I just knew it was my angel who was praying to God right there. I was given that privilege when I was younger to see my angel.
Your angel is right there with you always.

Here is a great video from a Catholic philosopher about angels. If you like Chesterton, CS Lewis, and are a Thomist then you’ll really enjoy Peter Kreeft. He is probably the best Catholic philosopher out there. He is the modern-day Chesterton/CS Lewis.

Thank you for that video. I understand a lot more now. Don’t know if I want to meet him in person though, they sound so fierce looking from Dr Kreefts description. :eek:

I’m a coward when it comes to other world beings.

I own a copy of Dr. Kreefts’ book Angels and Demons. I agree with him, angels are not the namby pamby women with wings, but powerful, and probably terrifying to look at and non-human.

What do angels say when they appear in the Bible? “Fear not.” I’ve always thought there was a reason for that. And I’d love to find a picture of an angel who looks like they’d need to say that.

Once when I was 25 or 26, I was in a very dangerous situation, life or death. Somehow, I was able to remove myself from the danger by getting away in my car. After everything was over and I was back in my house, I had an overwhelming feeling that my guardian angel had led me as I drove away from danger. To get away I had to drive very quickly through an area of town that I didn’t know. I had no experience driving in that area of town which was well known for violence, drugs, prostitution, etc.

I should’ve never been there in the first place but I was in a very bad way mentally, and looking for all the wrong things to “fix” myself.
I was not a practicing Catholic at that time. I was very far away from Jesus. I rarely prayed. My life was a mess. But, something inside me knew that it had to be my guardian angel. That was my first reaction.

Oh yeah, there is definitely a reason for that but I suppose they possess the ability to take on human form. I’m sure if we were to see them in their full splendour with our naked eye and unaffected the reaction would be one of utter fear. Perhaps similar to the visionaries who communicate with Our Lady, we can be “affected deliberately” and appear to be hypnotised or or in a trancelike state.

Yeah these were also the first words of the Angel of Portugal towards the children at Fatima

Magdalenaa, regarding the living light that you saw, how do you know if it was your Guardian Angel or the Holy Spirit? How does the Holy Spirit show Himself to us by the way?
