VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Some saints wear halos, other saints wear helmets.

The Vatican employees who manage Pope Francis’ official Twitter account in English confused the two on Sunday when Tweeting about five new saints he canonised in St. Peter’s Square…

“Today we give thanks to the Lord for our new #Saints. They walked by faith and now we invoke their intercession,” the Tweet read.
Mistakenly? I guess, hashtags are hashtags.

I think it’s kind of cute. I’m ignorant enough about Twitter to have made the same mistake.

Some of the fan responses were cute, too.

Good thing he wasn’t tweeting about the New Jersey Devils. Who knows how that could have been perceived…

Hey, if the Pope wants to cheer the Saints on, who am I to judge?

Given the problems that the cardinals have had lately. I think He will still go for the saints.

And I don’g mean football.

I remember hearing how a generation before I was born, the nuns used to send children home for the weekend with the exhortation that they should pray for Notre Dame to win.
