It appears to be the same in Ireland, with the red hat alternating between the Archbishops of Armagh and Dublin. In Scotland, the sole Red Hat awarded to our nation since the Reformation seems to have alternated between our two Archepiscopal sees - respectively, it has been held by Cardinal Gray of Edinburgh & St Andrews, then Cardinal Winning of Glasgow, and is now once more in Edinburgh with Cardinal O’Brien. Whether this will continue remains to be seen.
