Pope Pius 12th: closer to sainthood?

One convert to the Faith adopted the Pope’s first name and Edith Stein became a Catholic and then, a nun. There was even going to be a forest in Israel in his name most don’t know about.

The chief rabbi of Rome at the time converted to the Roman Catholic church in part because of Pope Pius XII (apparently, this chief rabbi of Rome is open-minded about this). There is a book written by a Jewish rabbi refuting the Marxist slime about “Hitler’s pope”. As I’ve said, there is a group of secular, left-wing Jews (ADL, SPLC, Simon Wiesenthal Center, etc) that hate Christianity and the Church and will don anything to attack it.

One said the convert from Judaism didn’t become Catholic and name himself Eugenio because of the Pope, but he did become Catholic at or around that time. Many wouldn’t convert if they thought the Church was with the NAZIs.

A lot of Jews are mad because Pius 12th is being considered along with Pope John Paul 2, who apologized for violence by catholics against Jews (and for the sex abuse scandal cover-up, but not for liturgical abuses and radicals running jurisdictions–though we should still forgive him and his V2 predecessors and his successor for all that). I have to wonder if the Leftist Jews love that because they feel he put himself “in his place”. The part about “his blood be on us and his children” was removed from the Good friday liturgy by a predecessor. However, have these outraged Jews ever tried to get anti-Jesus and nasty stuff written about what Jews can do to non-Jews out of the Talmud (Gentile women still can be called shiksas–sp)? Have they asked forgiveness for the actions of their ancestors’ persecution of early Christians? I don’t think so.

I was very pleased to see this wonderful man venerated alon with John Paul II. I knew that it could be viewed as politically incorrect, but it was the right thing to do.

I’m very happy to see Venerable Pius XII. There are those who believe that he did not do enough to slow down or stop the Nazis, just as there are those who believe that John Paul II did not do enough to stop pro abortion politicians. What we have to understand is that popes are not magicians. There are some evils that they hate as much as the rest of us, but those who are committed to evil have a free will of their own. Pius lived a holy life and practiced great charity toward all. His life has been found to be exemplary because of his great love of God and neighbor. We don’t get into heaven because of our success, but because of our love.

I think Pope John Paul 2 could have dismissed radical clergy he was aware of unless, as Fr. Gruner’s people suppose (some of their stuff was left in an adoration chapel), his hands were bound somehow. In any case, he went out to take on the USSR but, as was the case of the king during the Protestant rebellion, he thought the answer lie in defeating an enemy far away. Maybe reaching out to the youth was his attempt to play the leftist pied piper game, but I don’t think it worked out. Too many leftists were running or teaching in Catholic parishes and their schools. The Left Pied pipers had an uphill battle, though they had the world, the flesh and the devil and no souls to save. Waiting for a generation of devout youth to create a cascade effect was too slow for souls and over 50% voted for Obama. The interfaith prayer services at Asissi gave the message that people of all faiths working together, not the Prince of Peace and his Church, and properly said Masses therein, were the vehicle for peace on Earth. For those things, I would not call the last pope, “the Great”, but he probably has a good shot at sainthood for his personal spiritual life. He may have had the unleashing of demons in Pope Leo the Great’s vision pressing on him and yet he did frustrate abortionists.
Some say Pope Pius 12th didn’t act sooner because it would endanger Catholics. I don’t think he can decide for the other Catholics of his flock that they will be martyrs. He must do what’s right without affecting the Faith or saying “No” to Mary if an apparition of her is worthy of belief. Even Pope Pius 12th didn’t consecrate Russia to Mary’s Immaculate Heart. If any pope didn’t do that to keep the Soviets from attacking Catholics, it would’ve been foolish and wrong. It was obvious that Mary spoke to the children at Fatima and so, like not consecrating France to Christ’s Sacred Heart, it would have been very wrong to have not consecrated Russia. Deal or no deal, they persecuted Christians anyway and we got a serious pastoral disaster later–a plague, so to speak. We were obliged to save the Jews, but in proportion, I think. In ways, that, unlike consecrating Russia, which only the Pope and bishops could do, was more a duty of lay Catholics, parish priests and consecrated religious.

The link to the article is no longer active. Zoller was born in Warsaw and changed his name to Zolli as he wanted it to sound more Italian. His views on such issues as Zionism changed from pro to anti to pro depending on whether it would be self opportunistic. During the war he abandoned the Jewish community of Rome and ran to hide in the Vatican. He did not warn the Jewish community of the Nazi roundup against them even though he received advanced information. Through stupidity or negligence he did not destroy the registry of the Jewish community of Rome allowing it to fall into Nazi hands facilitating their being rounded up and murdered. After emerging from hiding he sought to retake up his duties as chief rabbi of Rome. The survivors of Rome’s Jewish community refused to allow him to return as chief rabbi at which point (according to two Jewish sources who spoke with him immediately after the conversion - out of spite against the Jewish community) he converted along with his second wife to Christianity. I hope he made a good Catholic because this apostate definitely failed as a Jew in every meaning of the word.
