Hey Brianmichael, I do think it’s a load of twaddle, and I do think it’s a silly attempt to sound like a moslem, however I agree with your smackdown argument, and assure you, and Steve I meant it in a friendly, fellow christian fashion and forgive me Stevie boy if I sounded belligerent. We are brothers.Jimmie2Gunz, don’t patronize the guy, thissiz CatholicAnswersForums not WWESmackdown
Steve, the Pope was probably addressing the RomanCatholics in Germany, his own homeland, which like other european nations have a low Church-attendance rate
Having said that (here he goes) I get bored by ill informed posts from protestants banging on about the Catholic Church following man’s teachings and protestants following scripture alone, when the truth is, Tradition and Scripture come from the Catholic Church which Christ founded, and protestants can’t actually agree on a wide variety of very important doctrines, despite their, or rather because,of their own individual interpretations.
For example, One of my chidren recently sat a Higher Exam ( in Scotland) on religious education. The prescribed textbook for the course stated clearly and officially, that the Presbyterian Church of Scotland (the state church here) now holds that it is not necessary for their members to believe in the Virgin Birth of Christ; it is a personal interpretation up to each individual!
As regards being patronising Brianmichael, as GK Chesterton said " Catholicism necessarily feels for Protestantism not the superiority a man feels over sticks and straws, but that he feels over clippings of his hair and nails. She feels Protestantism not merely as something insufficient, but something that would never have been even that, but for herself", that of course includes the very scriptures protestants claim to rely on.
God bless you and Steve.
