The Catholic Church is the ONLY Church founded by Jesus Christ. JW are just man-made religion dating back to the 1870. It’s founder is Charles Taze Russell. It’s just another Protestant sect. It isn’t Apostolic in orgin because they don’t have ordained ministers and lack any bishops.

In a few sentences would you mind telling us what’s JW all about?🙂

For the sake of discussion - one of the belief of the Catholic Church is reflected nicely in this prayer which the priest recited everyday in our worship:
“Deliever us, Lord, from every evil, and grant us peace in our day. In your mercy keep us free from sin and protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ”.

You see, Catholics are waiting joyfully and expectantly for the coming of our Lord. It’s understood that the coming of Jesus constitutes the end of the world. Much less than afraid of the end of the world, we are looking forward to it. Do you?

What does our Pope have to do with the Church of England? I didn’t watch all of the videos (no time right now), but I did see that the church of England says it’s okay to live in sin.

The Catholic Pope who is Pope Benedict XVI does not say that living in sin is okay. What does this have to do with our Pope?

Did he say that you are the ones correcting the church of England? I don’t know because I haven’t watched the rest of the videos, I have to get to bed so that I can get up for Mass tomorrow.

But if that’s the case, just because the Pope says that you are correct in telling the C of E that living in sin is wrong does NOT mean that the Pope is saying that your “religion” is right.

The True Faith and therefore the True Church is the Catholic Church. I say that with absolute certainty.

God bless and goodnight. http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i85/Alegre-Fe/Emoticons/yawnwave.gif

exactly WHERE in that video did HH Pope Benedict XVI state unequivocally that jw’s are “right”? he did not state that, so please do not post un truths. Do we have proof it was even him who phoned her? no. I highly doubt it. jw’s are not right and they never have been, nor will they ever be.

Even if the pope did phone her, you took what he allegedly said out of context. it is not an admission of your belief being
right. not by a long shot.

remember the prediction of 1975? failed. how bout all the other predictions of the end ecoming? failed. what about the generation of 1914? failed. truth does not change. With God there is no untruths. With the falsetower, there is.

A society that claims they speak for God and then lies and makes false predictions does not speak for God. never has, never will.

The Catholic faith has never flip flopped on doctrine, nor will it.
yours has umpteen times. There is no credibility in the societies statement that we do not say God’s name. Thatis bogus. We are not afraid to say God’s name, Yahweh.

I have seen it in publications, and yes, we are encouraged to
say God’s name, Yahweh. So that is another untruth taught by the watchtower organization.

you need to seriously have a good hard look at whom it is that your society really serves. It is not God. not by a long shot.
As for HH Pope Benedict XVI, please prove to me from his own
mouth he said what you alledge he said. I want to see it from
his own words, written or spoken. Until that is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, you do not have any proof.

Did the Watchtower prophesy 1975 for the end?
Did Jehovah’s Witnesses teach people 1975 was the date for Armageddon?

The Armageddon Syndrome

by David L. Harvey

Since our common era began, every turn of the century has seen its share of apocalyptic prophets announcing the end of the world or “Armageddon.” They claim to have special knowledge revealed to them alone. The term apocalypse is from the Greek and means “revealed” or “unveiled.”

“Armageddon” is mentioned only once in the Bible- at Rev. 16:16. This Greek word translates “mountain of Megiddo.” The ruins of Megiddo (Tel el-Mutsellim), an ancient Canaanite city, occupy about twelve acres of a small plateau overlooking the Plain of Jezreel (Esdraelon). This plain was the scene of many decisive military victories throughout history. As there is no literal “mountain of Megiddo,” the term “Armageddon” is most likely symbolic of God’s great and final battle at the End Time. Entire theologies have been built around this single verse.

A number of abusive churches create a fear of Armageddon, reinforced with guilt in order to dominate and maintain membership. Cults use this as a tool of emotional control. By implanting fear and creating guilt, abusive groups manipulate their members into performing free service.

Fear is the major motivator. It binds in two ways: (1) It creates an outside enemy who threatens or persecutes the member. This results in the “us versus them” world view, and (2) fear of failing the organization or fear of discovery and punishment by the leaders if you are lax in doing your job. What job? Why, serving the organization, of course! “Are you REALLY doing all you can to serve God?” (A typical introduction to guilt.)

Guilt is a good enforcer, but it won’t work unless you can make people feel guilty about something. Note this subtle example: “Now that you have an understanding of God’s purpose wouldn’t you like to share it with others? We know God will destroy all wicked people shortly. Since we have knowledge of this we have a responsibility to warn others. If we don’t do this God will find us bloodguilty at Armageddon. You wouldn’t want to be held bloodguilty, would you?”

Of all groups, however, the Watchtower Society is perhaps best known for its Armageddon Syndrome.

Charles Taze Russell, first president of the WT Society, predicted Armageddon for 1914: “…the ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty’, which will end in AD 1914 with the complete overthrow of earth’s present rulership, is already commenced.” The Time Is At Hand, 1911 ed., p. 101.

Russell thereafter altered his viewpoint and said the end might not come until 1916- surely no later than 1918: “Also, in the year 1918, when God destroys the churches wholesale and the church members by millions, …” The Finished Mystery, 1917 ed., p. 485.

You don’t have the pope saying that Jehovah’s Witnesses are right. You have slides that say the pope said that “You are doing the work we aught to be doing” and by that I’m sure (if he in fact said it) that he meant that Catholics should be preaching the truth more. This supposed quote comes from a newspaper article (though the slides don’t say which newspaper the article comes from or when) written three months after the woman had supposedly recieved this phone call.

So we have selectrions from a newspaper article (but not the paper or date) a woman who says she got a phone call (but no recording of the call or proof that it was the Holy Father) three months before the article was actually written.

Hardly positive evedince if you ask me.

What is the obsession with God’s name btw? Just so you know, we have several names for God, including: God, Heavenly Father, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Yahweh, Jehovah, the Heavenly King, The Almighty, The Son, Maker of Heaven and Earth, and the list goes on. So we DO know His name and we say it often at mass. This instance on “Jehovah” just seems weird to me.

I feel like I wasted 7 minutes of my life watching that propaganda. I applaud you for your work. It had all the qualities of an article from the watchtower - lies and quotes taken out of context.

One question I have - why are you coming here to throw out accusations and avoid debate?

I would have to agree… jwtruth, if you are interested in an actual conversation you need to participate - not just post something & run. We would call that a “troll” and before too long, no one will listen to anything you have to say.

Regarding your original post - I would agree with you that JW’s are out there preaching their message. Your methods are correct. However, your message is wrong - 100% wrong.
I would love to discuss why JW’s believe that the second coming of Christ happened in 1914 and how “that generation would not pass away.” Care to discuss?

Dear Jwtruth,

You abandoned the threads you posted in prior to this with no citations for your previous allegations. (please view Jwtruths profile and click on her posts to see the horrendous false allegations made that went unresponed to)

Jwtruth seems to be obsessed by our Holy Father. This is interesting.

Just wondering Jwtruth, are you going to teach us about your beliefs at any time in the future?

I await your response with hope you will.

May Jehovah bless your attempts here to do so.

"this video was not …by the Watchtower Bible and TractsSociety.

you may want to eliminate the plural on Tract as it may lead others to think WBTS actually did this video, and as bad as their stuff is, its not this low quality.

May I ask why the need to focus on Catholics and then ask if they have an old KJV? I mean, granted many of us do, but would it not make more logical sense to ask a Catholic to look into a Catholic Bible? I mean we do it for you.
We can teach you the errors of your teachings right out of your version.

ahhhh… you cannot send this member a pm or email. i see.
post and run. doesn’t want his/her posts refuted so no pm’s.
i guess its the op’s right to not receive pm’s, or email. no prob.
it only proves our point.

the person comes in here, makes allegations against the pope
and doesn’t bother to come back and debate with us. not at all
surprising.

they want to spout their propaganda, take the time to post, and likely chalk the posting up as to “witnessing” and take
the time to fill it in in their preaching slips.

i’ve seen it done before. nothing new. if you don’t want this poster to add it to their preaching slip then don’t answer the
op. but when you get someone like the op here, who makes
allegations and doesn’t back them up with facts, and they
refuse to come back to the post, and has no pm selected,

what does that tell you? the op is afraid of real debate. just loves to spout of propaganda, and runs. typical jw behavior.
by the way, i will state that the lady who had been comig to my door did not come back after i spoke to her about 1975.

even though she promised she would. talk is cheap. actions speak louder than words. she propbably ran right to her elders
and told them she spoke to an “opposer”, and they told her to shake the dust off her boots and move on. much like this op.

jw"truth", if you come back, i want you to know, we are not afraid of debate. we welcome it. do you?

Marilena,

This poster is not even showing as on the board now.
I personally have no desire to PM this poster. I have already asked this poster on another thread to substantiate the false allegations made and did not get it.

Jwtruth, is this your preaching style? Internet instead of door to door? Or in conjuction with door to door? Are you getting hours on your monthly card logged in when you post here? Or when your YouTube video gets viewed?

Where is the word Organization/Organisation in the Bible?

You mention it in your video. Is it “biblical”?

Just wondering, dont want to get you upset, I know your beliefs are claimed to be biblical and that is the only reason I ask.

Sorry my friend JW. You have been mislead. The JWs are masters at misquoting and taking out of context. See the following article from “The Bibilcal Archaeology Society” The Jews never wrote or said the so called name of God (Jehovah) as it was forbidden! So it would not be found on the walls of a cave.

The internal evidence from the Hebrew language is equally strong and confirms the accuracy of the Greek transcriptions. Yahweh is from a verbal root *hwy,a “to be.” This root usually shows up in Hebrew as *hyy. It is a verbal root developed from the third person pronoun, *huwa/*hiya. The grammatical form of Yahweh is the third person masculine singular of prefix conjugation. The ya- is the third person masculine singular prefix.
In Jewish tradition, it is forbidden to pronounce the Sacred Name and its true pronunciation is supposed to remain a secret. The fact is that Jewish tradents (who put the vowel points in the Hebrew text) borrowed the vowels from another word, either <‡doÆnai “my lord(s),” or <elôhiîm “God.” They avoided the very short a vowel in this borrowing because it might have led the synagogue reader to make a mistake and pronounce the correct first syllable of the Sacred Name, namely -ya. The vocalized form one finds in the Hebrew Bible is usually Yœhôwaµh, from which we get in English the form Jehovah. Yœhôwaµh/Jehovah is nothing but an artificial ghost word; it was never used in antiquity. The synagogue reader saw Yœhôwaµh in his text and read it <‡dônai.

I am afraid jwtruth is not reading any of this. They are forbidden to read anything critical of the jw organization. He posted and ran. If he had any guts he would have stayed and duked it out.

I had a jw come to my rectory. I smiled and invited him in to talk. I was very happy to see him. He refused in a most cowardly fashion.

I am also interested in that too. My gran, born 1910, DID pass away in 2001.
So He came and I missed Him? So, what am I here, an illusion in some eastern religion type dream? cause Scriptures say that He will come back and gather us up, divide the sheep from the goats, and then it’s Glory time.

I must be dreaming this life, according to the JW’s…
and really, I don’t think they actually qualify as Protestants, do they? I mean, they didn’t come out of the reformation… um… revolution, actually, as they had nothing to do with reform, they ripped the Church into groups, and now there are tens of thousands of subgroups.

I thought Protestants had to believe in the Trinity. Like Unitarians who came from Presbyterianism used to believe… but another group of Unitarians don’t, so they cannot be Christian. To be Christian, one has to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Glad to be a RC,
Patti

Dear PattiC,

I consider them a cult with a Capital “C” Cult.

The Early Fathers, Doctors, and—

PattiC- they are not even close to Protestants!

Not one miniscule bit.

Its sad. Would you like me to PM you more reasons why they are not only a Cult but partaking once a year in a ritual that mimicks the Black Mass?

All deny the body and blood (except for the ones who think they are the 144,000) and per their math, its hard to imagine anyone who would think they could be considered as such now but they dont use logic so they dont think about that one.

To pass over the body and blood (even in the forms they think are valid…)

is to DENY Jesus Christ, which they relish so.

He is only the Archangel Michael dontcha know?

He died on a torture stake doncha know?

Do you want me to horrify you more?
