If this were to be happen it would be useful for a rapprochement between the two Churches.

A little known fact is that the then Pope Benedict XVI had received a letter from the Patriarch of Moscow after Summorum Pontificum was issued. In it the Patriarch commended the Pope’s attachment to traditional liturgy.

In the same vein, it is interesting to see what the Patriarch of Constantinople thought about the motu proprio:

The best that the Pope can do to promote more unity between us and the Orthodox is further encourage the Extraordinary form and further tighten the Ordinary form, i believe we will see this in the near Future.

I have nothing against the ROC, in fact the willingness to speak out is refreshing, we have good priests that do this aswel.

This is how respectful Patriarch Krill was toward Pope John Paul II and Catholicism.
Russian Orthodox Church opposes Pope’s tour
Russian Orthodox leaders have fervently objected to the Pope’s travels in the former Soviet states and rejected his intention to visit Russia. The Orthodox clergymen have accused the Catholic Church of aggressively recruiting believers from among the Orthodox population. On the eve of the Pope’s trip, the Moscow Patriarchate’s top official in charge of external relations, Metropolitan Kirill, complained that the Pope did not consult the patriarch about his visits. “Kazakhstan does not have an Orthodox majority, yet from the point of view of inter-church relations it would have been normal for the Pope to consult with the Patriarch,” he said. atimes.com/c-asia/CI29Ag03.html
Well have to see how open and respectful he is of Pope Francis.
