It sounds to me like he’s trying to weaken the papacy as much as possible without breaking it in order to appeal go the eastern orthodox; but this will unleash a firestorm of heresy from the liberal modernist bishops.
Here is a question: How could comments like this concerning the Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church be reconcilled with orthodox Catholicism?

I think the doctrines of papal infallibility and supremacy should be scrapped altogether. They are primarily based on forged documents such as the decretals of pseudo Isidore. The Eastern Orthodox church has performed admirably in not compromising the faith for over a thousand years. I think the Roman Catholic church should repent of its past mistakes for the sake of establishing communion with the EOC. Remove the Filioque and embrace the synodotal model of the church.

We do it all the time, and no one pushes for recognizing homosexual relationships or ordination of women. We have the Holy Spirit. What’s your problem?
I think the case of the Orthodox serves as rather good evidence that this slippery slope may not exist. The three issues are too divergent and only coincide when we use labels like “liberal”.

Uh, no. We will not abandon Jesus and break away from His authority that he left to His body on Earth. Please peddle and proselytize elsewhere.
