Pope to abolish theory of Limbo?

I always understood it like this:

It’s not the souls that are in a place called Limbo, its the magisterium that is “in limbo” because it has yet to have a clear revelation from God that reconciles the need for baptism, and the innocence of actual sin.

There is a difference between the Limbo of the Fathers (limbus patrum), which is de fide Catholic teaching, and the Limbo of Infants (limbus infantium), for which the Magisterium has never provided a dogmatic definition though there is a strong historical tradition which stands behind it’s existence. See my post from a few minutes ago for more on the difference between the “lmbos.”

As I read the cited newsarticles, it does not appear that Limbo of the Fathers is the issue.
