Pope’s first visit to the Czech Republic to be in September 2009

Evidently the Czech Republic is the only remaining post-Communist country not to have an agreement that defines the status of the Roman Catholic Church within their borders.

The Czech Republic is holding out on previous contract attempts with the Vatican because they feel that the RC Church’s
contract wording would make the RC Church the most powerful church in their country. The legislature doesn’t feel the current
wording is fair to other minority denominations and to the large population (59%) of atheists in the country.

They are still remembering times way back when around the 1600’s and early 1700’s when the ruling Habsburgs banned all religions except Catholicism and seized all protestant lands. This was called the Dark Ages for them.

The right to own land once again was established in 1989 after
all that post WWII communist and socialist rule, so now the Czech’s are also having status disagreements over property that the RC Church says it now owns.

They’ve been working on this treaty thing for a good long time,
almost since January 1, 1993 when Czechoslovakia peacefully divided into Slovakia and the Czech Republic .

The Czech Republic now as of January 09 will hold the EU Presidency for six months. The Czech Republic also is still ratifying the Star Wars radar and also the Lisbon Treaty.

The road for the Czech people is a rough one ahead and it doesn’t
look good for them no matter what they do or say about anything. It appears that the socialists are gaining power again merely out of shear avoidance.

The news generated from there should be watched closely.
Their country is more important than having donated a native
Czech name to Manolo Blahnik shoes.
Their country is like a tiny cotter pin connecting the world’s
wheels of the future.
