The Pope will pray for the redemption of Islamic terrorists when he visits the site of the September 11 attacks in New York next week.

The pontiff will call for terrorists to convert to Christianity, saying: "Turn to Your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred.

Amen to that. Yet, I am not surprised to see that some people are being critical of the Pope. I’m just glad to read that he’ll be receiving big-time security while visiting America.

Praying for our enemies has never had a popular following.
No, but in this case the Pope is doing more than just praying for our enemies - he is praying for them to actually convert to Christianity!

This reminds me of a few years ago when Ann Coulter said a similar thing about converting Muslims to Christianity and adding that there was nothing could be more effective and bring peace than converting them to Christians. And that Christianity was the single most effective tool there was to bring about peace. (I forget her exact quote - but because she said it it was deemed controversial.

Essentially the Pope is saying a similar thing here. Only he isnt getting as much flack because he puts it in a much better way.

Having changed the Good Friday prayer for the Jews, I hope he has cleared this with the Moslems.

Now why would he need to clear it with the Muslims? Muslims are not terrorists are they? So Muslims cannot object can they?🙂

Very good article here about Pope’s visit to US and his approach to dealing with Islam

“His essential message, if only implied, will be that the ultimate test of any given faith is the freedom to choose it or to reject it without fear of persecution.”

I don’t see it that way. There’s nothing specifically related to Christianity in his request to “Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred.”

Same here. Sounds like the Pope is praying for them to turn to the God of Love instead of the god of oppression.
