Pope vs Cardinal immigration

Pope Francis may have authority over us, but when he talks about immigration politics, I would just ignore that. Kinda like when he says something confusing and “Vatican officials” have to correct him but he goes back on what he said and makes it sound even worse. He’s kinda like your uncle that you visit twice a year on Christmas and Easter who’s really out of touch with the rest of the family.
I don’t know… sounds to me like the Pope says what Jesus would say if he were ministering today and the worldly church waves it off as too idealistic or inconvenient to our way of life.

In all seriousness though, Jesus wouldn’t at all say the things that Pope Francis says. In my opinion, Jesus would be all for the right of any sovereign nation to implement policy and restriction to their system of immigration.

Edit: Sorry for the uncharitable comments.

People on both sides always say that Jesus would agree with their political position. To prove that theory, I don’t believe in open borders so I don’t think Jesus would either.

No one answered his critics better than Jesus himself so I’ll give Pope Francis a pass. However I would expect the Pope to stand up for the poor and marginalized even if what he says is not popular. He also has to play in a political arena where not everyone is charitable or open minded.

Do you agree that this article may have a point?

The article does have a point. I guess we’re forgetting his backhanded comments toward Traditionalists, though. What did he say? Oh yes, that we’re holding onto a jar of ashes. And old relic of the past. Nice! Something Jesus would say!

I would ask you who are all the open borders believers because I have not heard the Pope, church or any US political party argue for open borders.

I agree that would rub people the wrong way and be hurtful. I would hope that was not his intention.

You can never tell his intention these days. But, I guess he might have had better intentions in mind.
