Slight correction-he did not apologizae. He expessed “regret” that his speech caused so much distress. there is a HUGE difference between “regret” and “apology”
I agree with you. The different news agencies have used different words including regret, sorry, and apologise. I think I’ll wait now and read the actual Vatican statement.
