Pope Francis devoted much of the Holy Saturday’s sermon to holy women and the role they played in the Passion story. He concluded the sermon with a reference to abortion: “Let the abortion and killing of innocent lives end”

Abortion is equated here with killing of innocent lives.

As a community of holy women and men, we should all pray to stop the killing.

Why did he say innocent lives when he also believe guilty lives should be spared as well?

I understand that. I’m asking why he puts a qualifier word like “innocent” before lives as in other life issues the person may not be innocent but his argument is that one life is not more important than another. If so, no need to point out the innocence of the babies killed vs the guilt of the Murderers on death row. Because that seems to value one over the other.

Good grief. He can’t say anything, even against abortion, without it being picked apart.
