I have been observing the latest visit to Turkey by Pope Benedict XVI. I was also able to read the statements that the holy father issued during his visit to Turkey concerning Islam. I feel that media pressure along with politics is cowering the holy father from his real stances, or at least his original stance toward Islam, which from what I gather, has a rather negative view toward the Pope. I am disappointed with these actions because I believe that while Christianity is dying in Europe, Islam is growing through immigration (France has the highest Islamic rate in Europe, mostly through immigration), and to a lesser extent, converts. About a month ago, a protestant minister by the name of Roland Weisselberg burned himself to death in protest of the spread of Islam in Europe, and the lack of resolve of Christians to check this advance. I believe that it is going to take some action by our leaders to do something in regards to Islam, and I hope the Pope is strong enough to do this, especially in light of past history relations between Christianity and Islam. I could be wrong, and the Pope certainly has more information than I have, but I only pray that history does not repeat itself as it has done countless times.

God be with his church and his people,

Alexander
