I’ve never been on a retreat and have been wondering about a number of them. I know Cursillo has been discussed on different threads but there are some things about it that kind of turn me off, but I was reading in my Church bulletin about a Cornerstone retreat that’s starting up.

Has anyone heard or gone to a cornerstone retreat? If so do you have anything good or bad to say about it?

Are there any other retreats like these out there?

Christ Renews His Parish is popular in my area, and I’ve heard of the Cursillo as well. I’m glad that I read about the Cursillo weekend ahead of time. It would be difficult for me physically and emotionally, and not in a healing way.

I haven’t done one of these weekends, but I have thought about attending a prayer type weekend at a nearby Seminary or Catholic college that has focus on prayer or such, as opposed to a CRHP or Cursillo.

God bless!

Cornerstone is a 24 hour sleep-over experience, Friday evening to Saturday evening. I consider it Cursillo-lite. The talks are similar in topic but less in number than those on a Cursillo weekend. There are Cursillo-like “Surprises,” and hidden professors. (Lecturers who sit among the candidates until they present their talk.) In my parish Cursillistas organized our first Cornerstone experience. Like Cursillo, one may attend Cornerstone only once, at least in my parish. To me it was a worthwhile but exhausting experience. I must add, if I didn’t love and respect my pastor, I would not have attended.
