They get paid to do what they do. I think it’s important to remind my brothers and sisters who may be caught in viewing pornography that what you are watching are prostitutes. Realizing this helped me see things for what they are.

And remember - those people are someone’s children and are all children of God. Pray for them that they may find their way home to their families and to God’s love and away from the superficial, fleeting, and sometimes dangerous allure of fame and fortune.

To me it is just sad to see those that are “caught” in this industry completely blinded to what they are doing by $$$. If you talk with those that are prostitues, porn stars, or even strippers they say how great the money is and it is hard to pass that up…almost like an addiction. It is sad, so sad.

I know it is late, but I cannot believe that I just read this! You “highly recommend” this movie? I don’t think that anyone needs a movie to show them what these people do for a living, I think it is pretty obvious

I think it would be good to know what these people do and think, to minister to them better. It would help in knowing the issues, how the industry works, how we can help these people get out of such an industry, etc. There is use for such a documentary after all.

What is it that you need to know? Please tell me? How the industry works? Is it that hard to figure out? It does not take a documentary for you to know what they do. Trust me when I tell you that no matter how much you “know what these people do” you are going to have a hard time ministering to them. Being in the porn industry, the least of their concerns is what you think about their acts and how it relates to Christianity, let alone Catholicism.

The documentary will NOT show you how to get them out of the industry. How? How will that be shown? I think that you would have a hard time justifying watching a documentary on porn to a priest.

“Oh Father, I was thinking of a new ministry at the church and I would like to head up the committee. I would like your assistance and would love it if you could come over some night to watch a documentary on the porn industry so that we can better minister to them.”

I know that a lot of churches have prision ministries, should we watch a documentary on murder? How it is accomplished so that we can better minister to these criminals?

It’s different once you actually get to know them–their lives, why they got into it, what actually goes on there, etc. You suddenly have a new perspective, and realize that these people aren’t just mere sex machines, but are humans with issues, problems, etc. Many of them want to get out of such an industry. Many would rather have another work, but many also cannot get out of it because it’s the only thing that’s keeping them alive. Many are rather unskilled, are undereducated, and these issues need to be addressed first. As much as one would like to help them get out, you realize that getting them out of a job might only be worse since they have no other means to make a living, and certainly have very little skills for another job.

It is the near occasion of sin.

Again, there is no need to know how the industry works. I understand that there are girls (even guys) in this industry that are stuck, or have nothing else to do, etc. but does that make it right? Does that mean that we should understand the industry? Planned Parenthood is an industry, should we all get out our study guides and start learning?

Actually there are no adult acts in the movie, its more about these “actors” and “actresses” themselves. I found it sad that so many of these women actually see themselves as lesser human beings, or that their life isn’t worth much.

I actually did talk to several priests about it, and all were okay with it for the reason that I saw it. It’s not like I am watching an actual porn movie! Nor is it glorfiying the porn industry itself, since it is actually showing the porn industry is devaluing human life.

As to studying Planned Parenthood, yes we should all study Planned Parenthood so we know how they operate. And how to effectively combat the evil that they do.

By the way I sat in a packed 300 seat theater at the premire of this movie. The director gave a talk in the beginning and said “please raise your hand if your watch pornagraphy” And proably about 200 people or so raised their hands. After the film was over you could hear a pin drop. The director asked the question again, only TEN people raised their hands.

As my friend and I were leaving the theater we could hear people all around saying " Oh, I never knew that the actress had those kind of issues, I feel guilty now watching porn movies"

Like I said, there’s a difference between what one thinks he knows and what it really is.

And do not tell me to learn about the industry, there is no need to do that.

Why would one have no need to do that? Even law enforcers still take the time to learn all about mass murderers and the like, not just to know how to capture them but how to relate with them. We have much to learn even from those who we think have little value or worth; many misconceptions and perceptions are changed once people begin to understand what they think they already understood.

It depends how one reacts to it. If one looks at it in an objective way–not giving in to the temptation, then there’s little harm. Priests and other workers who minister to these people are subject to these temptations daily; they are certainly seeing these adult things on a daily basis! Yet they still learn from these people, and it helps to understand them better. An educated person will have an advantage over those who do not know what they’re getting into.

Planned Parenthood is an industry, should we all get out our study guides and start learning?

I’m of the belief that if you want to defeat your enemy, then sing his song. Meaning, if you want to tackle something, then it’s best to learn about it.
