Rationalizing is the issue here and that is the basis of most sin. We want to say why something is not as bad as something else all while knowing that neither are morally good. Porn objectifies the human person and negates the soul and killing ignores the sanctity of life and negates the body. Both are disordered and immoral and to make comparisons can never mitigate the culpabibity of one who derives pleasure from either. Just because most of society has become desensitized to watching murders on T.V. does not lessen the intensity of this disorder.
There is only one reason why someone would watch porn and that is for self gratification by observing people as objects. For this reason it may seem that it would be worse to view porn than murder. However, if one were to view (and many do) murder as entertainment then that is just as disordered. We have to look at each act and discern the morality of what is being portrayed. Is porn worse that murder? Maybe—Maybe not… teachccd
