In the past fifty years it is very much on the rise. At present time in the USA there are four million, two-hundred thousand Pornography sites! Pornography makes more money then all the football, basketball, baseball franchises.

More money then all three major USA tv networks: ABC, NBC, CBS. AT@T Brandband makes thirty Million a year in USD from pornographic websites. It could be more addictive then any drug. Women are looked more of “things” then of persons that deserve respect.

It also adds on to homosexuality. It is un-believeably corrupt. Many times innocent websites can be “tricked” for a pornography website. Snarling young children, maybe as young as eight, into looking at this garbage. Every year it gets much worse. How can we as the human race stop it, before it gets WAY to out of hand?

P.S. On a side note mass attendance in the USA is down to 17%

I feel bad for the addicts. And why are you p(name removed by moderator)ointing women being looked down upon as things? I’m not sure if you have ever seen one, but there are men in there too. They aren’t “things”? Porn actors and actresses put themselves into these positions — they aren’t being forced to do any"thing". They do deserve respect and we shouldn’t condemn, but rather show the way. I’ve even bumped into a few devout Catholics along the way, namely Savannah Samson, that are in the industry. How do you explain that?

I explain that a “devout Catholic pornographer” is an oxymoron. There are faithful/devout Catholics who struggle with the use/viewing of pornography, hate themselves because of it, and confess it to their priest with an earnest desire to repent. But, someone who is devout/faithful would not be “in the industry” when there are other choices out there. I pray for them, just as I pray for supposed “devout Catholics” who are using artificial birth control, fornicating, etc. without confessing and doing their best to repent.

You mostly mis-read my post. There are more women then men… I meant they are seen as things, not people who should have respect; to the people who watch them. I have no idea how you could be devout and be in that industry:shrug:

I would advise Mrs. Samson to remove herself from that situation as that is a lifestyle totally and wholly incompatible with living a Devout Catholic Life.

I don’t think it is accurate to call people who do pornography "actors and “actresses”, they don’t do much acting.

And I believe that plenty are being forced in to doing things. If you don’t think there is a lot of sexual slavery in the U.S, than you are sadly mistaken. One former porn star who was on Tyra banks explained how her producer preyed on her drug habbit and was nothing more than her pimp.

Porn is one of those things that “seems” harmless to kids- grown up people do it, they must do it because they like it?

Of course the truth is a reality of pain, abuse and exploitation. The thing is men (especially) like like looking at nude women!

Shelley Lubben is doing great work in this area-- anyone heard of her?

The first level of activity is to avoid pornography yourself including some or may many is the better word of the movies that now appear in our theaters. The next level is to work with friends to convince them to avoid it also. Aside from educating others to avoid such things, there does not appear to be much an individual can do. The courts are next to worthless unless minor children are involved. If there is money to be made, pornography will not go away and if laws are passed there are those who will flaunt them or find ways around them. Be vigilant for your own good and the good of those you are responsible for. It is more addictive than drugs and alcohol and it does ruin lives.

I don’t believe that pornography is a protected form of freedom of speech. States should have the right to ban it.

At least with your average U.S porn, as far as I know, the women are portrayed as actual adult women. Here in Japan there is A LOT of porn that depicts junior high and high school girls in particular in their uniforms, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. 😦

A big problem now is that porn has become an acceptable form of entertainment in America. TV shows often talk about porn as if it is something that everyone has around the house. Not just on the internet, but magazines and video. To hear some talk shows you would think that every household has some. It is just a cavelier thing to buy and keep around. There doesn’t seem to be any shame in our culture over it any longer. It’s sad because the moral line over what is acceptable has been blurred. I have seen teens wearing shirts that say “Porn Star”.

I think the fact that has become so acceptable makes it more difficult for those who are addicted.

I find it interesting that there is always that reasoning that men like to look at naked women, yet no one considers that women get excited looking at naked men and that much of pornography is not women, but couples (or more than couples) having sex. I don’t think we can use the excuse or reasoning that this exists because men like to “look” at naked women. It exists for sexual reasons, for both men and women, and is used as such (not just for looking) and is a trap for those who make it as well as those who buy it.
