Hi,

I was wondering, does pornograpgy need to be looked up intentionally on the internet? Like a guy if he wants to look it up for something sexual? Like if someone wanted to actually look at porn if they had the thought in their head to go look for porn is it a sin? I don’t look up porn, but I like anime cartoons, and when I would look up images of some cartoons I like would have like half-naked cartoon girls or something. And I was wondering if this was a sin? I don’t have anything sexual thoughts or desires when I see the cartoon characters half-naked, and I don’t look up any images anymore of cartoons or characters, I gave it up. I am still a virgin, and I want to remain that way. But anyway I was wondering, is it a sin to look up anime characters and you don’t know that they’re going to be half-naked? I am going to my 2nd confession this Saturday, and I was just wondering if this was something I need to confess. Also I would take screencaps of cartoon episodes, and have them as display pictures on my msn messenger. But afterwards I would delete them off of my computer when I was done getting them on my msn. Is this a sin I have commited? And I am writing all my sins down so I can take them to confession with me, otherwise I would forget them if I didn’t write them down. We had our computer backed up, so all those screencaps and character images are gone now. Thank you and God Bless.

From, Amy.👍

This is a discussion you should have with your confessor or spiritual advisor. When you go in for confession, bring up the subject with the priest, tell him about your concerns and he’ll be able to give you guidance. Confession is not just a laundry list of sins, it’s a conversation and a conversion as well.

Hi Amy, the porn people purchase the list of search terms for each month from search engines, then they embed that list in a hidden page that they attach to the end of their main porn advertisement pages with both the background color and text color being the same color so it can not be seen by the human eye without highlighting it with crtl A, means select all. So, when the average Joe comes along and searches on Roman Culture, one of the disguised links that comes up in the search, often all the links on the firs page, are to porn sites. Also, fake web pages that one may find while looking for good information can capture email address to send you pron ads. There are also web bots that travel the internet copying email addresses to send them porn. You can learn about these tricks of the trade and others from the **Mellon Report on Internet Porn. **

So, it is possible to come upon garbage that you are not looking for.

As a general rule for email, if you do not recognise an email address, or the email address is a mess like “luke3345comes55home” simply mark each as spam and don’t open them because they may in fact have trojin horse programs embeded in the email itself.

This link gives you an idea how evil those trojin horse programs are

Jesus said, if you look at a person “with lust” then it is sin. Since you have the control not to go back to such images, and when they do appear you say “yuk” and go away. That would not qualifly as “lust”, thus no that is not a sin. But, if your sin nature ( Gal 5 ) draws you to them, then that is in fact lust, and is in fact sin. Do us a favor, when you come upon such pages, look for tricks they use like flag words like “sister, brother, daddy” for incest and warn us online about those tricks to advoid. I use a program on my computer called something like Kid Safe which allows me to add those flag words to a forbid list to block those sites.

google porn blocking programs for information on such.

BTW, there is a catholic provider, ISP for dialup which blocks such garbage at the server level for you. Simply google catholic ISP with your area code to find out which ones are avilable in your area. Also, do the google without the zip code to find the larger catholic Internet service providers, isp.

There are also, buddy type programs out there too. Basically, you install this on a computer and when your children or other users visit a porn page, then a message is emailed to a second person ( your buddy or parent ) about the visit to that porn page. This sets up accountiblity between children and parents or between christians.

Hint concerning myspace, often a user for myspace gets a message that Judy wants to be your friend. Go to his or her site and look for a link to “pictures I am not allowed to post of myspace”, ods are that link is to porn. So, in your myspace account mark that message as spam. When they get enough spam complaints about an user, they will delete that user and ban their email address and ban their IP address too.
