Portland Maine TLM?

Hello!

Anyone here attend the TLM in Portland Maine?
I read somewhere that they had the Mass in the EF every Sunday at 12, is that still the case?
How is the community? Does it have high attendance?
Is it an active community?
Are there a lot of conservative thinking Catholics in the area?
Does anyone have a video to the Mass there?
Please elaborate as much as possible on the area & the Faith in the area.
Does the Church offer classes to study Latin? I ask this, because I have noticed that some parishes in Canada have Priests teaching Latin to
children & or adults in the parish. And I was wondering which Churches in the US have the same.

The noon TLM in Portland is at the Cathedral, now part of the St. Gregory the Great Latin Mass Chaplaincy latinmassme.com I am the sacristan/head server for the Cathedral TLM. The other TLM is at the Basilica in Lewiston at 8:00am. No classes in Latin. We are not part of the Parish.

No videos
Low Mass for the next two Sundays and then Missa Cantata resumes.
Members of the TLM Community come from all over Southern Maine.

After our original priest, a Jesuit at the time, left to join the F.S.S.P., we became part of the Cathedral parish. The rector said Mass for us. When a new rector came, he found priests to say the Mass for us. In July of 2008 we became part of the newly formed St. Gregory the Great Latin Mass Chaplaincy.

Do you remember his name (the Jesuit priest)? He brought my wife and I back into the Church but I cannot for the life of me remember his name.

I would like to know as well, as I think he was the same priest that said the EF mass there at the cathedral in Portland when I lived there about 10 years ago. I was so inspired by him and his homilies and the EF mass there was my first experience and a comforting one as it was my first time living by myself 100s of miles away from family and friends. A brilliant and holy man if it is the same person I’m thinking of.

i went to mass at both the cathedrals in portland me. the One on the hill I went to mostly. it is very reverent and a peacefull place. i felt protected there. i live too far away now to go there, but the other catherdral in portland me, it has regular Masses in a language i dont know, and i went to one, thought it was spanish dont speak spanish so dont know for sure, anyways i couldnt understand the words but i felt this overwhelming sense of Love all arround, and no matter what language it is, there is a following of Christ there i can tell you i am sure of that, and there are enough people that understand the mass in that language they do benifit i am sure of it. its is a wonderfull place of worship because of that. oh and there is a monestary to the prescious blood on State Street in Portland, you can go there and pray but you arent allowed to wear purfume there. some people that go there have servere alergies to purfumes and or breathing problems, and you arent allowed to speak to to others in the chapel, it is like a sanctuary for prayer!!! and it is lovely to be there.

I posted a separate post that you will enjoy i think. as far as the city of portland, it has alot of gay support and gay people there dont often get told the truth, there of plenty of those in need there, as well as there are out reaches in preaching with other denominations in public, preaching to the crowds that persucute them, i am sure there is a need for catholics to evangelize to more than just the soup kitchens, there are faithful in Protland me, they have to see alot of sin that the people of portland allow as contreversial to try to covert any of them to Christ, there is alot need there for active and engadged catholics to gather to Christ and no regardless of the size of the attendance in Mass there is Love where there is Mass there, and that is a great support, because the city has alot of outreach to the homeless, but there are many their that can be won by Christ, so have faith and courage, there is lots to do there for Jesus, and a small congregation has room for more, the cathedral on the hill has the best attedance full alot of the time, but there was three cathedrals, the one on State street got sold, and what ever the size of the congregation it can do nothing but grow, but keep in mind what portland me lacks it can be addressed and it only makes more oppurtunity to Love God to the fullest there.

I found it on my sons baptismal certificate, duh. His name is Fr. Calvin Goodwin

It is Fr. Calvin Goodwin who first said the Mass for us. Then he was Fr. Goodwin, SJ. Now he is Fr. Goodwin, FSSP.
