In this case, a picture of this can be worth more than many words. Jesus and the Virgin Mary are shown by Joseph as he lies dying. Jesus is blessing him and Mary in anguish clutches her own body. This scene is not in the Bible, but it must have occurred. We do know that Jesus died before Joseph did, since when Jesus was on the cross, he told Saint John the Apostle to take care of his mother (John 19:26-27) who by then must have been left without Saint Joseph.
