The actual turnout was so small that it was not even legally binding. So the parliament is going to go ahead and legalize it anyway? How’s that make sense?

Without stating the super obvious, there’ something evil about this. I mean, if not enough people come out to vote, your result should be: “not enough people came out to vote, therefore the laws stay the same”
Your result should not: “not enough people came out, let’s do whatever we want.” That’s what I meant about it being evil.

And in the land of Fatima:(

And in the land of Fatima:(
Portugal claims to be 90% Catholic, yet the majority that bothered to vote went against church teaching. I guess apathy is an internayional condition.

We must bombard Our Lady with petitions for mercy from her Son, and for the salvation of that country (and ours).

Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for us.

No, Franze, all Western nations, ideologies, and certainly people etc. are not rotten. . .hey, you and I aren’t rotten, are we? 🙂

There will always be troubles and difficulties, but we can’t let that make us despair. We can’t write off a civilization based on the actions of some–even a majority at times–not when there is still so much good. Have courage–and as John Paul II told us, “Be Not Afraid.”

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us.

Pax vobiscum!

How blatently undemocratic! They didn’t get enough votes to make it legal, so they are just going to do it anyway? Absolutely sickening how strong of a hold Satan has on those people. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for them and for us all!!! St. Michael the Archangel, cast Satan out of their minds!

This is a shame. It looks like Malta is on its way to being the only truly orthodox Catholic nation in Europe. Hopefully they can hold on.

Pax tecum!

Abortion is still illegal in Ireland, too.

Hi all,

I live in Ireland and the vote to relax the abortion law in Portugal was, to be honest, very disappointing but not all that unexpected.
In the European Union the wave of secularism and open hostility to catholicism/christianity or any religion for that matter (eg, banning of public display of religous symbols in France) is one of the most dictatorial things I’ve ever witnessed.

Typical European Union style!!

This is nothing new!
Ireland rejected the NIce referendum in a Nationwide poll about 5 years ago. We were one of a few countries to do so.
Guess what happened???
The EU rejected our decision, and asked the irish government to repeat the ballot.
To my amazement the Irish government did repeat the poll and the ballot passed…shame on Ireland.
In any case, a top ranking EU official said the outcome of the second ballot was not an issue, as the EU would press ahead with implementing the Nice Treaty regardless of the result of the irish poll!
Blatently Undemocratic…wonderfully well put.

Even Pope JPII greatly lamented the fact the the EU constitution made no mention of God.

In the light of all I’ve said above, i really fear for Ireland and malta, and portugal as far as abortion and religious freedom is concerned. The European Union is probably the biggest threat to religion of any kind in europe today.

Most of all, I fear the fact that millions of childen will be murdered by these new laws.

I pray for these babies every time I attend mass.

Oh, by the way, within hours of the result of the ballot in Portugal last weekend, a strong earthquake struck off the Portugese coast.
Food for thought…
