Still today we are recieving vindictive posts about priests and the rescent scandals within the church. Even though many of us know that the scandal only involved a very small portion of our blessed priests, it is very discouraging to read these. Besides this, I feel for the our priests that visit this forum and read such negative comments.

SO…here is my idea for this thread. Lets post the positive, life changing, supportive things our priests have don in our lives. A pat on the back, and a refutation to those who seek to slander the priesthood. So, lets steup up and praise and give credit to these tireless workers of our Lord!!!

Just last night I had a wonderful discussion with a friend of mine from high school who is a priest. He really helped me work through some things I’ve struggled with lately and I am thinking more clearly today than I have in a VERY LONG time. 😃

God bless ALL our priests! :clapping:

I think my priest is great. He’s got a great sense of humor and is easy to talk with. He’s very humble, too. He’s also faithful to the Magesterium, which is sometimes difficult to find these days. I don’t agree with him on a lot of social issues, but he’s a wonderful priest. I wish the world had more priests like Fr. Jeff.

Y’know what? I really do see Jesus in Monsignor Hunt. He’s about the most charitable soul I think I know, and his Mass is always uplifting. Our parish and many others around us were banged up pretty badly by Ivan and he’s always telling people that if they need anything that all they gotta do is call. He’s the image of Christ to me. I praise God that I’m where I am and he’s my pastor.Glory Be To God!
Pax vobiscum,

Our pastor is friendly, a good business man and makes appearances at most parish events. He’s visible to the Confirmation class and even came to the first youth softball game! —KCT

I’ve got some great things to say about many priests!

I’ll never forget the Irish priest who used to visit our parish when I just just a little girl. I just fell in love with him and when he visited again he always remembered me. Since I was usually invisible to adults, in me he found a big fan! And of course our own parish priest, Father Webber, will never be forgotten. Made my first confession with him and First Communion.

Then there was Fr. Peichal…he was so generous, so friendly, and so encouraging to the youth…right after JP2’s heart. He died of cancer when I was in Jr. High.

Now the church I go to is huge and we have several priests. I love them all. One recently became my SD, the others always seem to be aroudn especially when they are most needed (ie Biblical questions, moral dilemma). It is so easy to see Christ in them and it is so clear that they see Christ in everyone around them.

We are so blessed to have such holy priests and they are such an inspiration. Many vocations are coming out of my parish and it’s easy to see why, with the great examples right in front of us!

Fr. Marshall is an incredible priest- he celebrates the Mass so reverently and passionately and his homilies are always full of meaning and insight (not just feel-good fluffiness) and he tackles moral issues with sensitivity but not compromise. He goes out to the abortion clinics almost everyday and sidewalk counsels and prays and also holds retreats for post-abortive women. Because of this, he’s kind of on the fringe among other priests, or so I have observed. Also, he always wears a clerical shirt, which I think is cool because you can tell he is a priest and is great and easy to talk to.

Fr.David cruz, Is a good priest he is friendly and devoted to the church. Busy most of the time. I think he is doing a good job at our church. he is also a family friend.

Only 7 people have anything good to say about priests? Wow, if this were a thread to complain about priests, it would be 7 pages long by now. Come on, Catholics! Let’s find some positive praise which is typical of joyful Christians here for a change.

I’ve met so many wonderful priests it’s hard to know what to say. Most special to me are:
  1. My parish priest who when I was a child always seemed to make a point of saying hello & talking to me and making me feel special, he probably was like that with everyone.
  2. A passionist priest (friend of the family) who used to visit and tell us funny stories, play soccer & play in the woods with us, and he was OLD (in his late fifties early sixties). He had no car and we were all very upset when the friend who used to drive him to us got married so they visited less often.
Both these priests are very orthodox (wear priest clothes etc) and were very influential in my vocation. The passionist priest used to often say to me when I was a child that God had ‘great plans’ for me, which made me want to do something ‘great’ for God.

I know some more priest that i can say nice things about them. Here they go.

Fr.Andres Mendoza- He is devoted to the church loving and caring.

Fr.Halfmann- He is a great person, He’s married and a retired priest but is agood family friend. still helps out our priest at the church on sundays. so proud of him.

Fr.Martin Pena- He is a good person, did my dad’s funeral in olton,Tx 8 years ago. He is also a family friend.

Fr.Ruben Luera- He’s my Uncle and a geat person. He’s thinking about going back to the priesthood.

Fr.Ben Kasteel- he is a great person devoted to the church, loving caring person.

Fr.eugene Driscoll- great person as well.

The most amazing priests I have ever met and got to know personally are bishops.
Bishop Conway, recently died of cancer was incredibly down to earth, inciteful and humble. He was truly a shepherd to our diocese.
Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, who has the fire of the Holy Spirit alive in him and you feel his warmth even in a church packed with a thousand people. His connection to young people is incredible. In fact, he is so down to earth, he asks us only to address him as Bishop Gustavo. He is tireless in his ministry as well.
Bishop Kicanas is one of the most amazing men when it comes to memory. When our son was an adult server at a family friend’s funeral and Bishop Kicanas concelebrated, my son said…Bishop you confirmed me over 4years ago…and he turned and said my sons’ confirmation name to him before my son could even go more. I think it impacted my son even to this day.

My twin brother IS a priest and he is being reassigned this month. It is rumored that he will be going to the LARGEST parish in the Diocese of Cleveland (5,000 families). I think that speaks volumes to what my brothers has done with his first assignment where there are only 2,500 families.

My parents had probs with infertility and even considered adoption. One day the parish priest asked my mom how the adoption process was coming she was able to joyfully tell them she was pregnant with me.

What is so awesome is that he would send me birthday cards when I was little. He really shared in the joy of my parents and remembered me in that simple way. It was like he felt invested in our family. Of course it was years later before I really knew about this and a few more before I understood how beautiful it was. I don’t have memories of my baptism but I have wonderful ones about the the priest who baptised me.

I have to second this. His early passing is a great loss to our archdiocese. I found his example and ministry to be so signifigant that I made a point of visiting his body as it laid in state at the Cathedral before the funeral.

Fr. George Rutler is tremendous. The liturgy is a model (IMHO)of what a liturgy should be, his semons have wit, intelligence and sound Catholic teaching. I always leave Mass feeling good and can’t wait to get there again.

I had occasion to ask for prayers for a family member after church one day. He didn’t just say okay, he asked all the appropriate questions about what sort of prayer need it was, and I truly believe his prayers helped.

Fr. Jack Wall, pastor of Old St. Patrick’s Church in Chicago.

He took over the parish in 1983 when there were 3 people registered. Today, well, look Old St Pat’s

**** Unfortunately our Pastor has been removed from us because of an abuse allegation. We do not believe it but the Archbishop felt otherwise. Father Pat is the closest example of what I believe Jesus wants a Priest to be. I pray that God will see fit to have the truth be reveled and to have Father Pat returned to the Priesthood to continue to Shepard us on our faith journey. Sometime the good suffer. God bless all the Good Priest.

We have two priests in our family. They have grown since into such solid holy persons, they are a delight to speak to and write to. Besides I have known so many priests who truely live their vocations. Right now our parish priest is a gentle spirutual person who keeps the whole diverse community together. Thank God for our priests.Radhika
