I am trying to determine which dates can possible fall within Lent and i can’t seem to find a source that flat out states it.

If Ash Wednesday can fall between February 4th and March 10th

And Easter can fall between March 22nd and April 25th
meaning that the Triduum would begin on Holy Thursday some time between March 19th and April 22nd

then would Lent fall some time between February 4th and April 21st? (or would it possibly end on the 24th in the Triduum?)

Also, would that mean that March 10th through March 21st always fall within Lent?

Yes. You can deduce from this that anything before February 4th and after April 24th will always be outside of Lent, and that anything between March 10 and March 21 will always be during Lent.

I can just picture my maths teacher drawing the little Venn diagrams on the board now 🙂

Thank you. I was thinking it was best to trust myself on this rather that the error and typo ridden Daily Roman Missal. But, I wanted a second opinion to make sure I wasn’t mistaken somewhere.

This is a really interesting take on things that I guess I have always abstractly wondered about but never realized one could figure out within certain parameters. Thanks for doing the math!

Now, for the next quiz question, what would the average (or most frequent) date of Easter be? (And such related dates as Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, etc.) Percentage wise, how freuquently does it fall here on there, across the spectrum?
