Possible gray areas of sexual morality

I know that there are many ways for a person to commit a sexually immoral act, but one area that I am confused on is that of “heavy petting”. I have seen differing definitions online and I’m not sure which is the correct one. Could someone please enlighten me on what the Church considers “heavy petting” to be, as well as the its teachings regarding this act?
 
FYI, since I had to google it, it is possible the OP or others might not know that the CCC is the Catechism (maybe not and I am the only dork).

Regardless of the definition, a real easy rule of thumb is to ask yourself, “Would I do this in front of my mother or grandmother?” If the answer is no, then it needs to wait until you’re married.

I’m not sure if you have a girlfriend or not; if you do, try this.

Approach the girls father, and ask him what HE considers to be “heavy petting”.

If you live long enough… you can come back an tells us what he had to say.

Not exactly a teaching from the Catholic Church, but when it comes to “heavy petting”, all loving Dads tend to have a “Catholic mindset” when it pertains to the manner in which you treat their daughters…

You can always approach her loving father in order to ask him what HE thinks “heavy petting” is.

You’ll get an answer.

Question is… will you live long enough to talk about it?
 
Think about your intentions of petting. 99.9999% of the time it arouses your sexuality which is strictly for married couples.
 
Sexual acts are far more than intercourse. They are anything where you or the other person becomes aroused - foreplay is meant to cause an erection in men and physical aruosal in women that will facilitate intercourse. If you are groping and grinding and petting, that is foreplay. You don’t do it until you are in a valid marriage with that person.

Any act designed to arouse another person to whom one is not married is sinful.
 
Such is only for marriage. Part of foreplay.

Grave matter outside of marriage.
