I have been living here a while now and have some really good friends. Catholic.I was approaching things as if the O.P. did not have any other problem beyond the hypothetical mass conflict, but if the O.P. does have underlying problem, then definitely talking to a priest will bring clarity to any confusion or worries they may have. Never substitute our advice here in place of a qualified priest
As for you, I am deeply sorry to hear of your father’s passing, but hopefully trusting he is with with the Lord brings you some consolation.
With all the other things going on in your life, I hope you have a good parish nearby where the parishioners treat each other as family and are willing to help you with some of your burdens. We should always strive to help our neighbors.
It brings to mind a quote that I love, “Thee lift me, and I’ll lift thee, and we’ll ascend together”. I believe it originally was said in the context of marriage, but we can all strive to help eachother
The kind of help needed is great and would require a sister or someone in the immediate family.
But, I’ll tell you this. Many years ago one of my priest friends told me that I had to make a “jump in the quality of my faith” in accepting this autism in our first grandchild. I never knew what he meant until recently. My g.d. is the most loving person. All she does is hug me and tell me how beautiful I am (!). So now I know that she’s a blessing from God - something I could never understand before, although I do believe Romans 8:28. But it’s not easy to accept.
Blessings
