Possibly a strange question....aliens?

Okay, so from what I understand there is at least a good possibility that there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. What is the proper Catholic response to that? If humans and aliens ever made contact would we be expected to try to evangelize them? What if they claimed to have had prophets on their own planets? Could Jesus have appeared to them separately?Could aliens be saved?

I know this is kind of a weird question but my husband loves watching tv documentaries about aliens and stuff and it got me wondering, haha.
There are no aliens. Unlike science fiction, we don’t know what they would look like or if we could even communicate with them if there were. Of course we would evangelize them but the variables are unknown. What if they are so primitive that they have minds that cannot grasp anything but hunting and eating? That abstract ideas cannot be understood?

Peace,
Ed

To categorically deny there are aliens is presumptuous.

It is extremely hard to overlook **all **the anecdotal evidence that is a world wide phenomenon. The Gov’t.s of Mexico, Belgium, France Russia and others acknowledge their existence.

The glassy tubes of Mars says something to me as well, IMHO. See Nasa web site for such pictures.

See here youtube.com/watch?v=4x84QrZxRKE for a Larry King discussion of the evidence Part 1. The other parts are available as well. Then there is the** widely observed and filmed** Jerusalem UFO. See here:

Think** whatever** you wish.

anecdotal evidence is hardly conclusive

UFO’s don’t prove anything unless we have one available to study (not in area 51… :rotfl: :rotfl: )

also ive watched many Alien things but to think Aliens are just hiding in our solar system flying around with their super high tech gadgets and what not and not making contact and saying the some countries acknowledge their supposed existence - is not sufficient evidence for a lot of people

we have zero scientific evidence for aliens…remember the SETI institute - they found nothing…

so I don’t personally think its **presumptuous ** to subscribe to the theory of no Aliens

Ah. Yes. Mocking. Ridicule.

It is often a difficult thing to aknowlege a thing if one* refuses* to study a thing.

So. What is your take on the Jerusalem UFO, since seeing is not believing in your cosmology, apparently. I always thought the Scientific Method incorporated visual observation. Silly me. The UFO is what then? The Muslim Angels? A star that fell to the area and decided to leave again? A really, really big Lightening Bug? 🤷

Psssssssst. Area 51 is indeed an actuality. That is where much of the Black Ops Skunkworks functioned.

Neither is anecdotal evidence to be ignored. We formulate** Law** based on witness testimony-yes?

So. I’m listening…

Desi’s exclamation to Lucy comes to mind regarding the Church if intelligent extraterrestrial aliens were discovered: “you got a lot of splainin to do”.

On the other hand, just think of the possibility to evangelize.

My view is that whatever intellegent non spirit beings that God created would need a saviour as well. There could possibly have been a salvation plan another planet. Like you, I have always been fascinated by the possibility of other intellegent life forms mixed with religion. What we know of God is earth orientated because the tenants of most major religions do not address aliens from another world.

God created the universe, scripture reveals this. I see nothing that prevents a cosmic plethera of beings we just couldn’t handle being exposed to (right now). If we had a close encounte of the third kind, and they spoke of prophts and a god, we would need discerment to make sure we are talking about the one true God.

Keep in mind these “aliens” could be demonic spirit beings that are looking to trick us with some truth. These beings could also look at us with six heads when we bring up religion to them.

I didn’t look at the video’s but I take it the Jerusalem UFO is the one where the Israelis sent out their air force to chase some UFO -

a UFO doesn’t conclude to highly intelligent and sophisticated intelligent life - although its the most popular theory.

many UFO’s have been dismissed as military testing , even pranks and many who knows

my point I was trying to make is that its not arrogant to believe in either theory based on the evidence . IMO

I have seen many many UFO videos for a while I was enticed by alien life and though I don’t completely dismiss it now, I just keep an open mind and reconciling it with many other factors I think Aliens (mainly super intelligent shy green Aliens flying around in saucers seems to me less and less probable)

There is nothing wrong with the possibility of aliens. God may have created other beings with souls. As for whether or not Jesus would appear to them, I doubt it. For two reasons:
  1. For the aliens (if they do have souls) to require salvation, they would have to have fallen, as we did.
  2. Jesus appeared to save mankind. Thus, He came in the form of a human being. It would be odd for God to appear to a species in a form they wouldn’t recognize.

All UFOs are man-made. There is no evidence they are spaceships from other worlds.

It’s fun to imagine aliens but right now, that’s all we’ve got - imagination.

Peace,
Ed

There’s nothing wrong with choosing to believe there aren’t any aliens. But to categorically state, as though it were proven fact, “There are no aliens” – now that’s presumptuous.

There are many who believe–and I am one of them–that so-called “aliens” are actually demons.
That is what my Priest told me as well, and to be careful with digging in too deep in that area. Usually (but not always) UFO/alien fascination comes with a lot of “New Age” (demonic) thoughts/doctrines. The individuals that I have encountered that are heavily in to that do seem pretty “haunted” (for lack of better words) to me so I am inclined to agree that they are demonic.

Jesus talks of a great deception. This would be a perfect deception. If an alien or demon showed the world of humans how Jesus was an alien also, but wanted to control the world. And they were here to really set the world free. We humans would fall for that line, hook and sinker. Jesus is God. He created the aliens, if they exist. God bless:thumbsup:👍👍
Yes, that’s why we need to be aware of the existence of other beings so that the church will not be in such shock that they don’t know** what **to think or believe if the devil’s kingdom does come posing as alien beings. Being confused like that will make people vulnerable to fall for it, but being prepared mentally for it by believing aliens exist will make us not be in such shock that we fall for the deception based on confusion. A lot of people will think the church never told us about aliens so maybe the aliens are telling the truth and they will fall for the deception. So we need to be prepared. 👍
I agree with the person who said that so-called aliens are actually demons. If this life is a journey in which we do all we can to know, love and serve God in order to help ourselves save our souls, then there are going to be devils and demons trying to manifest themselves as aliens etc to distract us. They want more souls in hell. We don’t just fly thru the pearlies lol. From all we know about our faith and the reasons WHY Jesus came and died for us so the gates of heaven could be opened, it would be kind of pointless if he created Aliens. It just doesn’t fit in with anything we are taught about the past, present and future of Our Lords divine plan. Just seems a bit lame and yeah, a distraction. tIt started with Adam and Eve, man is part angel, part animal, and Jesus came as man, like us. Did he go to the aliens on mars as an alien and die on a floating cross? Maybe…but I doubt it
That’s because the whole plan of Jesus coming to die for us was for humanity, mankind on earth. Aliens if they are not of the devil’s kingdom will have their own history and won’t have anything to do with Jesus dying for humanity. They have their own word history.
I strongly disagree. We can’t know that. We only know God’s plan for us. We don’t know who or what else is out there, or what God’s plan for them may be.
Exactly! 👍

thats fine if you believe in Aliens but is your evidence coming from a book of Enoch - and aren’t angels spiritual beings…without bodies… I may have to check the Catechism again but this book of Enoch thing doesn’t seem to check out.
My evidence comes from history, & from people’s sightings, and the book of Enoch just gives a possible explanation of where they come from. Also many times in the Bible the angels of God would take on a physical body, like the ones who went to warn Lot and the people there was telling Lot to send them out so they can “know” them. They had physical bodies, angels can have physical bodies when they want to. The fallen angels took on physical bodies to do evil. Angels of God put on physical bodies as messengers of God.

Your argument is illogical. What in fact would happen is that a firm belief in the existence of aliens would prepare the world for such a great deception. The Church would NOT be deceived. It is the mass of humanity that would instantly be taken in by such a deception, and in fact would have NO argument to counter the deception if the alien/AntiChrist were to use supernatural powers to make the deception appear all the more convincing. And when the AntiChrist comes, he will have supernatural powers.

Wellllllllllllllll… The church will** never** deny truth. If aliens are a truth, then there will be no denial from the church. And if aliens* are *true, there will be no conflict with Catholicism.

Aliens may or may not have souls. Intelligence does not equate to holiness. Certainly some of the alleged genetic human /alien breeding programs would indicate an amoral disposition on the part of some described aliens, methinks.

No the church won’t be deceived but what I’m saying is that many members of the church might be deceived if the discussion of possible alien existence is not discussed among Christians. Knowing nothing about the possible existence of aliens will set people up to believe anything about them if they show up. Discussing it among Christians and the possibility of them existing will get Christians to think about where they might come from and the possible deception they may bring, before they are actually here. It’s like if you don’t teach your children about sex, they will fall for anything anyone tells them, but discussing it and teaching them about it will keep them from being tricked or deceived. Same thing with discussing the possibility of aliens. Discussing it prepares Christians mentally for the fact they they may come bringing deception. But if Christians go along thinking they are not real then suddenly they appear, they won’t know what to think which will set them up to think and believe anything the aliens may tell them, especially when you add the shock of them showing up to the mix too. That’s what I’m saying. 🙂
