Hi all,

I believe God can communicate with all of us through all the stories in the bible in His own devine way.

Do you agree with me?

As I was reading a post in another thread, there was one by
Sodak which went straight to my heart.

He talked about one of the two thieves who was also crucified with Jesus.

Here is the link.
Sodak’s post is #4, my answer is #10

My cristian brothers and sisters,

At times, I even imagine about the thief’s emotions at the moment of receiving the promise of eternal life in heaven from Jesus Himself, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in** paradise**”.

I can not imagine the physical pain the thief endured in his dying moments and, at the same time underneath that pain, having a joy and a peace of mind in his heart that :heaven: was waiting for him.

Can you imagine for a moment what that feeling must have been like?

Just to think, if only the other thief was not full of himself with pride 😦

He challenged Jesus and did not believe in Him, and not only died a physical death, like his counterpart, but scripture leads us to believe he also died a second spiritual death and is spending eternity in hell because he did not believe in and have faith in Jesus

I believe there is one verse in the bible which parallels the thieves experience…
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death”

the thief who did not have faith, experience two deaths,
  1. physical death
  2. spiritual death by dying in sin
"but

the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord"

The thief who had faith and believed in Jesus, experienced one death and two lives,
  1. spiritually alive after confessing to Jesus
  2. physical death
  3. eternal life in :heaven:
Luke 9:24
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it(un saved thief), but whoever loses his life for me will save it.(saved thief)

In closing, I propose some thought provoking questions, I may be off the wall or crazy but I believe Sodak when he made the comment,
“… the thief on the cross was the ONLY person that I know who Jesus looked at in the eyes and promised Paradise”
Question…Is the thief the only person in this world that Jesus would want to experience that “wow” feeling Sodak expressed?

Question…Can we all experience that “wow” feeling of knowing we will be in paradise should we die right now as the thief did?

I can not recall another incident in scripture where Jesus, while on earth, **promising salvation **to someone as they were dying, other than the thief. but

Question…Isn’t Jesus looking directly at us, if not physically, spiritually every single day of our lives?

Question…Aren’t we all dying a physical death?
(some have a lot more time to live than others)

Question…Aren’t we all in our own way carrying our “cross” to follow Jesus

Question…Don’t we all now have a choice like the thieves did?

A) dying in sin and spend eternity in hell like the one thief?

or

B) believe, by faith, in Jesus and repent and confess like the other thief?

and if we were to choose “B”,

Question…should this be the day of our physical death, why wouldn’t Jesus say to us,
“I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise”?

And when He says that, I can only imagine what one would exclaim if they heard those words by Jesus, spoken directly to them.

Question…How do you believe you would feel if Jesus spoke those words to you?

Last question, Isn’t Jesus saying those words, in spirit, to us Christians each and every time we say “amen” to our prayers right after confessing and repenting our sins to God?

I believe Jesus is, and I am personally experiencing the “wow” and I can honestly say it is very much a wow and a whole lot more.

May God bless you

🙂 hi whatisthetruth. my confidence in His words"he will judge justly…" is my assurance. for if i were to die in a state of grace i know i will be judged justly. for one is justifed by faith in Jesus.kinda jumbled i hope one can see my position. dying in a state of grace means you have the spirit of God in you which at the time of one’s death which will give you that peace. do you need to feel that kind of peace all the time? no only when you die. yes but not the way it would feel if you where actually dying. exactly what is that cross He told us we has to carry? my opinion is that cross in our weak human nature which through Christ we are given victory in the end.yes that is why we need hope to should one fall into sin we can lose hope by saying i can’t be forgiven.at peace. yes but like i said one has not the need for that type of peace unless they are actually dying. i take you were catholic at one time. that is all igot right now puppy time again. peace my friend.

one more note please check my post on page 47 post #hi whatisthetruth:) i would like to relate to you a story given by my parish priest in one of his homily’s; once there was a young man who set out on a journey. while he was travelling night fell as he came onto a dessert. As he was redying to rest for the night a voice said to him keep going and you shall be rich. So the young man did as the voice said, as he was on his way the voice told him to stop and pick up a rock this contiuned for a while. Soon he had a big bag of heavy rocks. Suddenly a storm sprang up and the going was tough. Why am i carrying these rocks? one by one he threw them away. When he came down to the last rock a break in the storm happened and he saw it wasn’t rocks he was throwing away but diamonds. with happy heart he set out to sell his one diamond. so my friend i beg of you don’t throw away any more diamonds but please come back.sincerely fbl9 check out my post#692 on page 47 of thread if you are christian what is your real reason… keep the painted side up or if your ride is a scooter keep the gas cap up.
