Its so ironic that I’m asking this question after my last topic, but I promise it has no correlation.

Anyway, I recently took 3 pregnancy tests and they all came back faintly positive. I took another test (different brand) this morning to see if the line is darker and it was negative. Now, I’m not asking for medical advice, but I also had some “spiritual” things happen too.

First, my husband had a dream that he asked Jesus if we are really pregnant and Jesus answered “yes”. And then I had an internal dialogue going on that I won’t believe I’m pregnant unless I see a specific sign I had in mind, and then no sooner than I said that than I saw the sign. Also, this morning I was sad and confused about my negative test so I was asking Jesus what is going on. Then I glanced over at something and the first three words read “it is wrong”. I could be completely nuts! But, does anyone think I should put any weight on those “spiritual” occurrences? Could they be consolations?

Just go get a blood test if you can’t believe the tests you took. Or try a different brand tests.

The best thing to do is go to your OB/GYN to make sure it wasn’t a chemical pregnancy. If you are pregnant, the stress is not good for you or baby.

I can understand why some women do it, but really, I think it’s best to wait until you “miss” your period to test, as any store bought test will be sufficient to let you know. I use tests from the dollar store. I’ve been part of online moms groups where women start testing really early, spending lots of money and agonizing about “is this really a positive” for weeks. It’s heartbreaking.

If there’s medical history or something I’m missing that means different testing could be necessary, I would suggest calling your doctor.

I know that I should make an appointment but, in the meantime, I was just pondering if these things could be consolations from God. If its a dumb question, I apologize.

I’ve been down the infertility road, and there’s nothing worse than the “am I or aren’t I” where you interpret every little body sensation as pregnant/period starting/back to pregnant.
Please don’t torment yourself. 🙂
Get a blood test. Or if your period is late, you can get a physical exam.
:pray:t2::pray:t2::pray:t2:for you! :hugs:

It is not a dumb question for one who is pregnant or suspect being pregnant. I am not a woman but I too did get that sense of anxiety over getting pregnant, my wife of course. So don’t feel too bad about it.

There are good advices already and I should think don’t over think it or getting stressed, yes it does nothing good for the baby if indeed you are pregnant, but the more practical concern is to wait or go for another test. No hurry. If you are pregnant then you are, if not, then may be it is not the time yet.

Easy said than done, so do take care and be well.

God bless.

Without discernment, it’s difficult to really say if those were consolations or just coincidences. I’m not saying you’re doing this, but for me, sometimes I connect the dots on thins without really discerning and things don’t usually turn out the way I expected/hoped.

The best way to be sure is to see the doc and have a test.

Best of luck to you!

There are no dumb questions. Remember, all of us Catholics are family and you are asking your extended family a question.

Could these be consolations, sure they could be. Are they likely to be consolations, I think that we in the western world are far too quick to poo poo dreams while other things like your eyes looking to a random phrase is likely coincidence. Guess that makes my advice, again, maybe 🙂

Super early, before you have missed a period, is not very reliable for an at home test. Sit and wait a couple of weeks. Live as if you ARE expecting (don’t eat Sushi or a pitcher of margaritas and talk to your doc about your medications just in case, and then wait. You can POAS in two weeks. Stay busy.

Oh, about stress, I saw this film at a Documentary Film Festival. It was very thought provoking!!

Posters, it isn’t at all helpful to tell the OP to stop stressing lest she harm her possible baby. Guess what? That’ll make her stress more. It did me, because then every time I felt anything less than happy happy calm calm I worried I was messing up my child for life.

Prolonged stress caused by bad life situations–bad relationships, economic stress, chronic health problems–isn’t great for the baby. Getting stressed out over something in the course of ordinary life is not going to do anything harmful. So, OP, stress out as much or as little as you want to; if it’s affecting your life negatively, then you want to deal with it, but geez, don’t worry about worrying.

Best of luck to you. I know how very long that wait between ovulation and one’s expected period can be. I echo others’ advice to wait a bit before testing again. Cheapo tests are pretty sensitive if you do them around your expected period.

He have to wait until we are ready before made some tests to know if we are pregnant or not. Because it will be life changing.

No need to forced by someone else or something, just take your time if it is your wishes. You will have some others days that permits you to cultivate ambiguity, and have differents roads open.

I have myself wait because I am not ready to have the result, for my first (even If I know that I am pregnant) and more for my know pregnancy.

Dreams interpretations are controversed. Here, they indicate you that you think of a pregnancy, and be a consolation for you.
God and angels are know to speak to some humans in dreams. There is a lot of exemples in the Bible.

If thoses dreams lead you to God and in the right direction, that could be the case.

Forget the dreams and feelings. As soon as you miss your period, call your gynecologist, and ask for a blood test. Have you had ‘false alarms’ before? Is this your first pregnancy? The stress of looking for a ‘sign’ isn’t good for you or your baby. It’s two weeks, at most, you have to wait. Try to calm down. And, hoping for the best!

The stress of looking for a ‘sign’ isn’t good for you or your baby.
As stated above by heidi_storage, this kind of advice is super unhelpful. It’s normal for women to stress about whether or not they’re pregnant. It’s normal to stress out during pregnancy about all kinds of things. Sometimes the hormones make you stress more. It’s a good idea to manage it, yes, but stress is an important and normal body signal. Let’s not shame a potential mama for being like every other woman who ever wanted to have a baby.

And again, unless there’s a weird medical history, any store bought test will suffice after a missed period. It doesn’t have to be a blood test.

Thanks for your replies. It turned out I was pregnant but I’m not anymore. The baby didn’t make it. Its sad, but I think God gave me peace to handle it. Please keep me in your prayers. I need them!

I understand your loss. I’ve been there. Almost 29 years later, I still feel the loss.

Same here. Mother Angelica has a lovely poem about miscarried babies…

My Lord, the baby is dead!
Why, my Lord, dare I ask why? It will not hear the whisper of the wind or see the beauty of its parents’ face. it will not see the beauty of Your creation or the flame of a sunrise.
Why, my Lord?
“Why, My child, do you ask ‘why’?
Well, I will tell you why.
You see, the child lives. Instead of the wind he hears the sound of angels singing before My throne. Instead of the beauty that passes he sees everlasting Beauty, he sees My face. He was created and lived a short time so the image of his parents imprinted on his face may stand before Me as their personal intercessor. He knows secrets of heaven unknown to men on earth. He laughs with a special joy that only the innocent possess. My ways are not the ways of man. I create for My Kingdom and each creature fills a place in that Kingdom that could not be filled by another. He was created for My joy and his parents’ merits. He has never seen pain or sin. He has never felt hunger or pain. I breathed a soul into a seed, made it grow and called it forth.”
I am humbled before you, my Lord, for questioning Your wisdom, goodness, and love. I speak as a fool, forgive me. I acknowledge Your sovereign rights over life and death. I thank You for the life that began for so short a time to enjoy so long an Eternity.
