Hmmm, perhaps my EVIL PLAN for THREAD DOMINATION will not work after all? (Except in so far as it will confuse folks looking at the “wrong” count)

I’m guessing that when a person deletes a post, the count at the bottom of the page is decremented, but the sequential number of each post is not.

You can see this at post numbered 166, but if you scroll it to the top of the page it indicates 165, since I had experimentally deleted one of my posts prior to it:
