They are acting “monstrous”.
They still have possibility of redemption while alive, and they are not “monsters” (dehumanized).
I spent a lot of time involved with criminal justice where people who commit heinous crimes are often called “monsters” and other dehumanizing terms, often as part of the justification for capital punishment. The distinction between a horrible crime and a horrible person is important to me. Also, plenty of criminals, bigots etc have areas of their life where they do good and even loving things.
