Wonderful! Wonderful! Thank you Holy Spirit for giving us the Pope we need.
 
Excellent pope without a doubt. I love his humbleness, loved how during his homily he didn’t do it from the chair but actually stood up and went to the pulpit. Yesterday, I mentioned this in another thread, how he wore a wood cross and not the typical gold. He paid for his hotel even as pope, he said no, no if everyone else does it, so do I. I hope ppl that are not Catholic, or are borderline Catholics, see this man as a great man and give him a chance.
 
I like him but I’d like him to be less Franciscan and more Dominican. I like doctrinal stuff more than corporal works of mercy.
All-in-all he’s fine and I love him because he’s the pope. I hope he turns out to be like Ignatius of Loyola and keeps Catholics from converting to Protestants like him.

I consider myself a traditionalist and have a deep love for the Extraordinary Form. My wife and I were married in the EF, we attend Mass every Sunday in the EF and are grateful to Pope Benedict XVI for Summorum Ponttificum.

If I had chosen the Pope - Cardinal Bergoglio would not have been my first choice. Despite that since his appearance at the balcony of St. Peter’s I have been overcome with love for Pope Francis.

Is it a case of, as Blessed John Henry Newman put it, “heart speaks unto heart”?

I trust in the holy spirit to protect the Chuch from error in matters of faith and morals. I hope we have the Pope we NEED rather than the Pope we want.

It was hard not to pick favorites when following the whole thing so closely. Cardinal Bergoglio wasn’t on my radar screen at all. But I am certainly glad it wasn’t up to me and I have confidence that he is going to be a special kind of pope.

It is a bit weird for me personally because I grew up knowing no pope but John Paul II. When Benedict XVI was elected, I was already very familiar with him and had read several of his books. This time around, I feel at a disadvantage having a pope I don’t know at all. But I look forward to getting to know more about him. I like what I have seen so far.

THis echoes my thoughts as well. I converted in 2005 so entered the Church with Blessed John Paul II as Pope but shortly afterward was elated at the election of Pope Benedict XVI. Like you I was very familiar with him through his writings and I loved his incredible scholarly background. Pope Francis wasn’t on too many radar screens although Fr Jonathan Morris had indicated over a week ago he was one to watch. Once elected I scurried around the internet looking for information and have been so delighted at everything I’ve read about him. I think he is the right man for a time such as this! We are very blessed indeed.

Yes!!So in love!! Pope Francis kissed and washed the feet of our fellow brothers dying from aids…now thats the heart of JESUS…and thats our Holy Father being a true Leader before he was chosen as our Pope♥

That is just one example of many humble acts Papa Francis has done…

The Holy Spirit has given us heart of Jesus in action.What beautiful gift:heart:
 
I have to admit. I’m finding it a very ho-hum pick and that there were others far more prepared to lead. I thought Christoph Schoenborn was a much better option.
 
I love our Pope. He is our Pope. He is so very humble and seems so very kind. He is just getting started as our leader and he needs all the support and prayers we can give him. His is the hardest job there is.

Plus I hope to see a lot more posts here. After all God loves us and meets all of our needs and knows just who we needed, so we should all love our Pope.

Grateful to our Lord for sending us such a warm and kind person to lead us.

In the run-up to the conclave, I felt that many in the secular media, as well as many here on CAF, were looking for someone “young and media-savvy” to “connect” the Church to the modern world - someone who could sell the brand. I find myself delighted - and not a little more at peace - that the Holy Spirit seems to have given us someone who, gently but firmly, may show us all that detachment from the modern world, and guiding by example, is perhaps God’s will for our time. Viva il papa!
 
Like others have said, he is so humble and kind. One of the first pictures that I viewed was the profound image of him kissing the foot of the terminally ill child while he was a Cardinal. He is one to serve, not to be served, which is so evident in the simplicity of his behavior, manner, and appearance. God Bless Pope Francis!!
 
Praying for him comes easy, comes with confidence, comes with faith and hope.

There has been no sense of distress, trepidation or concern within my spirit. 🙂

I read your post and then checked to see your faith…or lack thereof? At any rate as an agnostic, do tell why you believed Cardinal Shoenborn would have been a better choice?

“Rebuild my Church” and “Go and set the world on fire”!

Exactly what we need the Holy Father to do!!

There is no such thing as a female cardinal, and there cannot be any such thing. It is as impossible as a male mother.

Another interesting viewpoint! Unfortunately to become a Cardinal one must ALREADY be a Catholic. And a male. So a female “Cardinal” joining the Church is quite a stretch…
