Hi everyone,
I am not asking for medical advice, just begging for prayers. In fact it is even unlikely that I will be able to read any responses for at least a week, but any and all prayers would be hugely appreciated.
I am a new mom to a very sweet 5 month old. Looking back I can now see that I have had PPD from the beginning almost, but the last 6 weeks or so it has become severe and now debilitating at times. Yesterday was the scariest by far as I was flooded (again) with suicidal thoughts, so strong that at the time I started considering it. This is the darkest time of my life and has taken a huge toll on my marriage. I have been exercising daily, I cut out sugar weeks ago and have been seeing a PPD counselor once a week and my Dr. Please pray for me and my family. I know God has said that some prayers are only answered when accompanied by fasting…would someone consider fasting for me?
I have to go, God bless you all and thank you in advance for your prayers.

As I am a nursing mom, I cannot observe a strict fast, but I will certainly observe a less-restrictive “fast” for your intentions tomorrow, and I will pray my evening rosary for you tonight and tomorrow night.
God bless you. Thank you for being willing to share your struggles here.

I can fast for you today (it’s early morning where I’m at) and will offer today’s Rosary for you and your family. I hope you can get well soon!
God bless you and your family

I will fast & pray for you tomorrow

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

God bless

I know you said you probably wouldn’t have an opportunity to read this now, but if you do, I hope it offers you some hope. Firstly, my prayers are with you! I went through clinical PPD with our first born and was hospitalized for about 10 days. That was 35 yrs. ago and I’m betting the medical community has made great strides in helping moms through this temporary, but frightening experience. I went on to have 3 more children with no problems. I don’t recommend you fast during this time, though eating healthy and exercising is wonderful and will help keep your insulin levels steady. There are so many hormonal fluctuations during the first year PP that fasting is not warranted. Extremes in anything should be avoided. You are doing all the right things: counseling, receiving medical care, taking care of your infant, reaching out to community and praying. Try to get some rest and extra TLC. Sometimes women feel guilty for having PPD, but it is a real medical condition and so many women have gone through it and come out the other side.

I will be remembering you and your family in my rosary prayers.

God bless you and keep you in His loving gaze!

Prayers for you and for all heroes suffering from PPD.

No medical advice; what could I say anyway; sounds like you’re doing everything right.

Spiritually FYI: you *are *fasting - you gave up sugar. You’re exempt from fasting anyways, you’re a new mommy and I assume nursing, but even if you are just unable to, you’re covered. catholicmom.com/lentfastp.htm

Don’t feel the least bit bad if you just can’t bring yourself to do it, but I found the “Divine Mercy Chaplet” was an amazing help through dark times. Also: the “Way of the Cross”; the sorrowful mysteries; or just saying the “St. Michael”.

Don’t forget Mother Mary is there for you, as well as St. Gerard and St. Dymphna.

I’ll pray for their intercession for you. Be Strong, you are loved.:signofcross::grouphug:

I know you asked for prayers, nothing more, and you will have that…

However, I don’t feel I can let you go in good conscience, if you are experiencing depression to a point you are actively considering suicide, without telling you this depression your described is probably not mild but severe. I suspect you’re right, that this will probably also be temporary.

Still, I hope you’d consider mentioning this to your obstetrician, regular MD, or a counselor.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blest is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
