Having grown up in Chicago I can be a bit of an architectural snob when it comes to churches, but I give St Stanislaus in Cleveland a perfect score bpieniakphoto.com/St-Stanislaus-Album

This is my parish church, St. Augustine’s in Lawrenceville.

And as far as churches in Chicago go, you would not want to miss (top to bottom) St. Mary of the Angels, St. Clement in Lincoln Park, and St. Michael in Old Town:One of our magnificent churches in Chicago. St Mary of Perpetual Help picasaweb.google.com/stmaryofph/ParishPhotos# and they do a Latin Mass.

Yes, it is (didn’t I say that?), and for those who are interested, via their website, you can do a 360° view of the church here. The apse mosaic is, of course, a copy of the one at San Clemente in Rome:I think the middle one is St Clement.
I can’t believe how beautiful those churches are. Especially Saint Clement! And as far as churches in Chicago go, you would not want to miss (top to bottom) St. Mary of the Angels, St. Clement in Lincoln Park, and St. Michael in Old Town

St Francis of Assisi in Ranchos de Taos, NM
Yes, and it is always such a beautiful sight to see all the parishioners gathering together to restore the church as it has been done for hundred of years.Ah, adobe!
For those unfamiliar, it requires annual maintenance of fresh mud. In Ranchos de Taos, the parishioners do it as a joint project with hundreds of them working together.

Haha, its hideous on the eyes, but it’s still a sight nicer than my church in photographs…/ sarc
I posted a week ago about a statement I made to a neighbor when he asked if I ever went to Mass at the neighborhood Catholic parish. I explained to him that based on the way the church looked from the outside I had no desire to step foot in the church.
Here’s a picture that doesn’t do justice to how truly ugly this church really is:

Several responded with shock that I could be so ‘judgemental’ for not even trying to assist at Mass there. Of course I’m not being judgemental, just prudent.
I know. I wish I could just travel around the world to attend mass at these buildings.I can’t believe how beautiful those churches are. Especially Saint Clement!
