My parents lamented often about the church being jam-packed during holidays and not on any other day. It’s nice to know they’re not the only ones who noticed today’s prevalent lapse of faith. When I taught Confirmation to high-school students, I was shocked to learn that some of my students were baptized, received First Holy Communion, but had never been to first Confession, nor did they attend Mass on Sundays for most of their lives. The only time their parents took them to Church was on Christmas and Easter and again, more of a social event than an expression of faith.
