I know, I received a warning within the first five minutes because one poster was “insulted” that I said he should go easy on the Church. However, he seemed to breeze through okay heaping insults on the Pope, individual Catholics, etc.

It’s odd, they don’t seem to understand the difference between Catholicism and Roman Catholicism. I tried to explain that they are offending Eastern Catholics but they responded by saying that Eastern Catholics are slaves of Rome anyway.

Im finding they are all of the same mentality, and continue to lie and wont listen to the truth, when you correct them, thats when we get our warnings…

I mean, I can understand bickering over doctrinal differences but they have to gall to claim that Mother Teresa is basically the same as any other Christian, that is, we all do what she does!

Bless you for taking heat over there lol. At some point, you have to ask yourself if it really worth it. If you want to offer up your suffering to God then by all means do so, but they are seeking a fight over there and enjoy it. They feel as if they are doing God’s work by calling you names that I cannot repeat without going to confession lol.

My SD sat me down one day and told me to simply plant th seed of truth and allow the Holy Spirit to grow within them.

And you know, I think that’s what demonstrates they are wrong. I can understand where people disagree on doctrine or scriptural interpretation, it can be tricky and highly influenced by your tradition and culture. But to not recognise and honour the holiness of a saint - it’s almost as if your “God-sense” is tuned down or something. I mean, as Catholics we can recognise saintly people in other Christian groups or even among non-Christians (I mean, look at Fred Hollows, who was an atheist).

Yeah but I still can’t see how anyone - regardless of whether they’re Christian or not - cannot be presented by Mother Teresa and be moved to tears by her love.

What they say about Mother Teresa makes me want to fight - maybe I should get off there. Good thing I don’t check out what they say about the Blessed Virgin.

I’m not sinking to thier level. I’m dead serious.
A casual reading of the threads there reveals many of the posters are suffering from some type of mental illness. Specifically what, I’m not qualified to say. But I tend to avoid places with crazy people. These are the type of people who will stalk you online, try to find your personal info, and if they can, try to contact you.
I’ve seen it happen. I personally had it happen to me. One of the reasons I don’t have a blog anymore.
Do what you want, but its best to stay away from websites like that. Religious fanatics are unstable…and can be dangerous as well.

Ask them about the Real Presence…explain John 6 to them including 6:53. Then show them quotes from the early church fathers on their belief in the Real Presence as well.

It’s interesting that I just posted a thread on CARM asking what - if a person believes in salvation or justification in faith alone - can make of Matt 25:31-46. Interesting, the first person who replied didn’t even address the question but made a snide remark, namely:

“Ah, an honest Catholic who admits that he is his own Savior, saved by his own works.”

Haha it’s not persecution, I genuinely feel they are either deluded or so convicted in themselves it amounts to the same thing. It’s more annoying and stupid than anything else. If one of my students answered a question like that I’d send him out of the room or give him a clip around the ears.

It is really sad when you think about it though. I lost many friends when I converted 20 years ago. They felt as if I was going to hell because I turned my back on Jesus.
CARM is the extreme. There are many of loving Protestants on this forum that are open to talking about theology. There they are simply ready to attack.

True, and that is sad because it doesn’t seem that we will be able to reconcile or even dialogue with them, unless by some great movement of the Spirit. It’s a lot like the “New Atheists”. At least the atheists of old could be talked with, even if there were disagreements. These ones just hurl invectives.
