Posting pics on fb

I have a friend on facebook who is Catholic and lost her husband to cancer a few years ago. She ‘likes men in Wrangler jeans’ and posts pics of the butt area of men in tight jeans but says it’s not lust, but she ‘just likes the look’. I disagree with her, even though we can’t judge another’s thoughts or intentions. How can she be so focused on the butt and not the whole person and think it is ok? She doesn’t know these men, isn’t married to them, but loves to look at their butts and ‘enjoy how it makes me feel’ and pooh-poohs my suggestion that she should think of the whole person and treat them with respect, not as objects to drool over. I know this thinking of mine is counter to our culture, but isn’t that what we as Catholics are to do? Treat bodies as temples for Jesus, not objects to ‘enjoy’ randomly without caring about the real person?

FB has done a lot to wear down people’s notion of “inappropriate”.

Seems anything goes. Pray for her. She’s lonely and doesn’t know how to appropriately deal with it.

Well FB apparently has some degree of morality left, I know they still do not allow nudity of any kind, plus that would be their decision, no one is telling them they cannot do this, no FCC rules on internet and FB is a pretty powerful entity as well.

That’s funny. People can post lies, hate-filled messages, and catfish others, but they’re pretty moral.

Even if she’s not actually lusting after these guys, you’re right that it’s not respectful or a good thing to be posting for others to see. Yet I suspect she sees it as harmless. Doesn’t sound like she’s going to listen to you at this point, sorry to say.

If it was me, and those kind of pics are pretty much all she posts, I’d “unfollow” her (so that you don’t see her posts unless you go to her page). If she only posted a few of these now and then, I’d probably just “hide” those particular posts from my page.

Other than that, I think all you can do is pray for her.

Well, why does FB have a rule against posting any kind of nudity then? Why arent they just an ‘anything goes’ site?

Its not due to someone telling them they cannot.
