Islam is a religion without a leader (with the exception of Muhammed) who is dead now. We have Islamic governments in power scattered across the Earth. I feel that this creates a power vacuum that will eventualy be filled by some form of Islamic leader.

Does the Islamic world seek such a leader to unit all of you? Do you hope for a leader who is a new prophet that will unit all Islamic people under one central rule, including all Islamic governments?

Do you feel that such a unity of Islamic nations could creat an Islamic superpower with the potential for an Islamic conquest? If such a power existed in the future would you want this united Islamic superpower to execute a global conquest to force Islam on the whole of the Earth?

Did Muhammed hope for such a conquest or state any prophesy about future prophets or uniting leaders in Islam?

There has been called by Malaysia to get all Muslim countries to form an economic trading block that could the US, EU, and Asian tigers (including China and Japan). Malaysia’s call has fallen to deaf ears. It will never happen. There is too much distrust and in-fighting with each other. Any of you ever worked in the Middle East knows what I am talking about.

Wouldn’t Turkey be an important country to have on board for such an “Islamic multi-national force”??

According to a recent issue of “The Economist” Turkey is unlikely to enter into the EU anytime soon, at least not as a full-fledged member. Austria will take helm of the EU in January, and they’re definitely not for the Turkish inclusion in the EU, and Turkey has strict rules against Crete ships and airplanes, which doesn’t make them look very open to other cultures.

It seems to me that there is way too much political dissension amongst Muslims in general to ever realistically hope for unity. Of course, the same could be said for Christians too, I suppose. And yeah, even Catholics perhaps!!

Oh, I see, you were saying that Muslim countries should form their own entity to “beat” the EU and US. I just get way too excited when I think I can use something I read in that magazine!!

At any rate, Islam is growing very fast, and some of the growth is no-doubt fueled by deep pocketed Middle-Easterners who can pay to establish and staff mosques in key areas.

I didn’t say that Muslim countries should form economic trading block. Malaysia says that they should. Like I said before, it will never happen.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that you were saying that, it was a bad sentence structure on my part. You were just reporting. I understand.

Have you worked in the Middle East??
