So in essence any prayer even a simple thank you is a powerful prayer? Yes?

Yes, but some prayers and devotions were given to us by God directly, often through the BVM and the saints, and in my opinion they are more powerful, provided of course the right disposition when you pray them. I don’t think it’s an official teaching of the Church or anything, but seems logical to me, especially considering that some of these prayers and devotions come with special promises from our Lord, such as the First Friday devotion, or our Lady, like the 15 promises of the rosary or the brown scapular.

I guess purity of intention as well as devotion and charity would make a prayer more powerful. Mental prayer is better than vocal prayer.

While I’m not familiar with the different prayers in the bible (torah? and new testament) The only prayer I personally can think of that is supposedly given to us by God is the Our Father. It seems to me these other prayers from Mary and other saints are private revelations so cannot be taken as directly from God. I can say Mary or some other saint spoke to me and told me to pass on a specific prayer. That does not mean it came from God even if in my experience with said saint etc… I was told “God says do this” or “God says pray this way”. Logically speaking that is.

Purity of intention I can totally get behind. Mental prayer better than vocal? Personally not a believer. I am wrong in my opinions often though.

Mental prayer is prayer from the heart and is interior while vocal prayer comes from the lips. I think there is a Bible verse about praising with lips while the heart is far away.

I am not sure why you think mental is better than vocal, or where you got that idea from.

I don’t understand why or how mental prayer can be viewed as from the heart yet vocal prayer is viewed as from the lips. All prayer as long as it is done mindfully with awareness of the intention is from the heart in my view. I don’t understand how it can be otherwise. Now if we’re not being mindful and just babbling (whether interiorly or exteriorly) these prayers may or may not have value. I cannot say for sure though I believe they do. The mind has a hard time staying focused but I believe effort and intention count for much.
