Pardon me for saying “corn”. It’s been awhile since I’ve read that scripture. So accordingly, if one was hungry they could go into the Parish and get the hosts from the Tabernacle if hungry and eat what’s only for the Mass.Note that Jesus was doing more, not less, by healing.
The Pharisees were wrong to think that the disciples shouldn’t eat and pick grain on the Sabbath, because if they hadn’t done that, they might well have gone hungry, which would not have made for a very holy or joyous Sabbath. It’s supposed to be a day of rest, not a fast day.
From Mark 2:
"23One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. 24The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”
"25He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? 26In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”
“27Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. 28So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.””
So, presumably, a good Christian can work in a hospital on Sunday and also do what is necessary to obtain food for the day.
