Point taken. Although the dictionary definition of “worship” can include Mary, most people aren’t aware of exactly what the word means. The street definition seems to have taken on a much deeper meaning.

Worship has changed meanings over the years. Read post 55 and you will have a better understanding of this.
 
I am a practicing Catholic. I pray the Rosary, I ask Mary for her intercession. I do not worship Mary.

If it’s the case it’s shamefully decietful to do this. That’s what I love about the true church of Jesus, we are held accountable to lies even the smallest forms of deception while others can lie there brains out with no fear of retribution. Praise be to the true church of Jesus Christ!
 
I giver her hyperdulia: no more, no less. If you want to use an older English word and call that “worship,” go ahead. If by ‘worship’, however, you mean latria, then absolutely not.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the greatest of all creatures, but she is absolutely contingent on God, nothing compared to the glory that God has in himself. In praising her, we’re really praising God’s greatness for creating so great a creature, his humility for creating anything at all, and his love for his creation.
 
Cradle Catholic who wasn’t really raised Catholic and was in name only for a number of years.

Mary is truly God’s most magnificent masterpiece! Adore her? No, but I do venerate her as she deserves. Only she agreed to have God. Only she carried God in her womb. Only she raised God from an infant and stood by him though everything including His death on the cross. She is the only creature that has had the honor of being so very close to God. None of us will every be able to get as close to God as she is. Why should we not look to her for help?
 
I wonder if the yes voter realize that their computer IP number has been forwarded to the Vatican State supercomputer.
 
Cradle Catholic for 56 years. I honor Mary as the woman who said Yes to God. Honor, never worship - that would be sinful in the extreme.

Agreed. In the Mass, you generally only hear Mary mentioned once or twice at most. The focus of the Mass is entirely on Jesus.
 
No. We do not worship Mary. We honor her. We often ask her to pray for us like I do with other Christians who ask me to pray for them.
 
To honor Mary is not the same as to worship her. I honor her as the mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And just as I would go to a respected elder or friend I go to Mary and ask for her help. But Worship? NO
 
Not worship, but I love her. As I love my own mother. As our Lord said from the cross that she is our mother now.

Catholics do not worship Mary., but they do hold her in great esteem. She is after all te Mother of our Lord and Savior. She will intercede on our behalf with her Son. An example of this is I is in John (I’m doing this from memory so I hope it is correct) At the weddig of Canna the waiters did not go to Jesus when they ran out of wine, they went to Mary. What she told them I believe is the last thing quoted as being said by Mary in the bible. She told them to “do what he tells you.” I don’t think that this was put in the Gospel by accident. It was showing us that Mary will intercede on our behalf, but only if we do what he tells us.
There are many many reasons we hold Mary in high esteem but remember high esteem is very different than worshipping. Worship is reserved for God and God alone.
