Practicing gay catholics shouldn't receive communion

The Jesuits and Dominicans encourage free thinking. I wouldn’t consider either of these as dissident.

I would rather have Rabbitthekitten take the time to study Church teachings and show humility and obedience towards the Magisterium. But St. Thomas also said that if one’s conscience, as absurd as it may sound, demanded one to leave the Church, one would have to do so (for St. Thomas this was merely a hypothetical question, he didn’t believe that was possible).
And what about excommunication, how can that be sinful? Granted, it’s the Church resp. Pope that excommunicates, but with certain actions one severs the ties to the Church on one’s own (latae sententiae, e.g. with violence against a cleric). And lastly, what about those few who tried (or still try) to pervert the Church from the inside? Wouldn’t it be better for the Church if they were expelled?

Well, not all are but several are dissident. And if you need me to give you a list of examples, I will comply. Start with Father Thomas Reese, SJ.

I’m not encouraging sin or opposing Church teachings. I’m questioning them, which is completely different. If you do not question anything then you can not learn from it.

Besides I’m an astrophysics student, I’m trained to question stuff.

I don’t know who this person is, the point I am trying to make is that thinking for yourself is not bad. It can help you learn and grow in faith.

The have acquired the fine skill of many SSA apologists by taking a quote completely out of context and misapplying it to serve your own purposes.

The Catholic Church guides it’s followers like sheep along the narrow path, it’s **our choice **to either walk the wide road of perdition or the narrow road to Heaven !

If you question things without understanding them or having tried to understand them (using a hermeneutic of good faith), then you ARE opposing them. You can engage in all the sophistry you like, no amount of astrophysics will change that.

See previous post. I’m not trolling, I’m just trying to get people thinking. I don’t mean to offend. It was an honest mistake.

I’m not opposing anything, I only came on this forum to find out if I could marry my girlfriend and I’ve stirred up a hornets nest. Look, I’m not some disciple of Satan, I just think the more people talk about stuff like this then the more people can appreciate different views.

Are we really talking though? Because I think you are trying to convince other Catholics that you are right about homosexuals being able to have sexual relations and not hearing what others are saying about the truth in the teachings of the Church. Are you appreciating the views of Catholics whose views are aligned with the Catholic Church?

Are you male or female and how does finding out if you could marry your girlfriend have anything to do with the OP?
