I have a strong desire to help others. I have been doing it for years as a child and as a young and mature adult. I have been thinking of being a surrogate mother for childless couples. I love giving the gift of life to others. I have my own family and my husband concurs with me in being a surrogate mother for others. I am still very fertile at my age.

May God help you to continue to be the most loving mother to your children, loving wife, loving sister, loving friend…these responsibilities of your love.

**But sorry, but this isn’t the forum to post the desire/intentions to surrogate **
It’s against Church teachings.

: Is surrogate motherhood a sin?

Would it be a sin for someone to carry their child to term as a surrogate?
Yes. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

Quote:
Techniques that entail the dissociation of husband and wife, by the intrusion of a person other than the couple (donation of sperm or ovum, surrogate uterus), are gravely immoral. These techniques (heterologous artificial insemination and fertilization) infringe the child's right to be born of a father and mother known to him and bound to each other by marriage. They betray the spouses' "right to become a father and a mother only through each other" (CCC 2376).
Infertility is a difficult cross, and one that should be offered up to Christ in union with Christ's own cross. Through union with Christ's cross, it is possible for a physically infertile couple to be spiritually fruitful, for themselves and for others:

Quote:
The gospel shows that physical sterility is not an absolute evil. Spouses who still suffer from infertility after exhausting legitimate medical procedures should unite themselves with the Lord's cross, the source of all spiritual fecundity. They can give expression to their generosity by adopting abandoned children or performing demanding services for others (CCC 2379).
As the Catechism notes, it may be possible for an infertile couple to take on tasks that fertile couples cannot (e.g., volunteer work, mentoring needy children, engaging in one of the helping occupations that are otherwise too stressful for couples with children), or it may be possible for an infertile couple to adopt a child without a family or foster a child who needs a safe haven.

As a woman who struggles with infertility and miscarriage/stillbirth, I commend you for your empathy of other women. I really do. But you can’t be a surrogate. In-vitro and surrogacy are basically saying, “God, I don’t agree with or trust you on my fertility, so I’m going around you.” As hard as it has been for me to accept, God has his reasons for everything.

If you feel called to help childless couples conceive, I have two great ideas. Look into becoming a NFP teacher- the success of conception through nfp is much better than in-vitro.

You could also look into volunteering or working for the adoption part of Catholic Charities or another worthwhile adoption center.

Check out the Pope Paul VI Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Hildgers has done wonders with natural conception and childbirth. Perhaps your friends can get help there.

But please don’t be fooled into thinking surrogacy is the answer. God would never call you to do something like this.

Dear Shanvi,

God has given you a loving heart and that is good!

There are many, many ways to show love; there is so much need in the world!

As Catholics we cannot endorse surrogate motherhood. God knows what is best for us, as He is Love!

May God lead you on your spiritual journey!

Modern society wants us to believe that we define our own reality and existence. In this vision of reality, will and freedom become synonymous. This leads to a philosophy in which ends matter and means are irrelevant.

The desire to help the infertile is noble. The willingness to achieve that end by treating children as a product to be acquired and your own body as a mere bio-factory for the production of said product is not noble.

Consider volunteering at a local Crisis pregnancy center. There are a LOT of women out there who really don’t want to abort their children, but think they have no choice. If you can help connect them with people who desperately want to adopt, you have achieved your noble end while using noble means. God bless!

Another option might be to consider training as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner who specifically deals with Infertility.
In this way you could potentially be giving the gift of babies to many couples as many women have been helped to conceive through Herbal Medicine that targets the Endocrine System.
Ive posted a few links as examples of what I’m referring to.
