"Praise Dance" in Catholic Cathedral

It appears to me to be just a use of the building. No Mass appears to be going on during this time. Which is the proper time for artistic events like this. No mass, no “foul”.
 
Since it didn’t occur during mass, I don’t believe there is any liturgical abuse. Evening concerts are performed in churches and other houses of worship all of the time. Although I’ve only known of or attended musical concerts in churches, this is sort of the same thing. It is not during a mass and also this is considered as praising God through movement. Although I don’t get anything out of liturgical dance, myself, I don’t see anything wrong with people liking it IF it is outside of the mass. I have a problem if it is during.

The other thing, too, is that it looked like this was a culturally African-American parish and is part of their praise and prayer. I don’t know if they do this during mass, but outside of mass is fine.

I agree that some of the comments on YouTube are pretty repulsive.
 
Please read my past posts… this never happens during mass at this church.
 
Don’t worry, I wasn’t making an accusation on this church. I was actually agreeing that this was fine outside of mass. My apologies if it appeared otherwise. 🙂
 
sorry sarabande, I wasn’t directing at you particularly, but there are a few posts here still questioning this whole thing as if it were a Mass. Just wanted to clear it up.

I’m just appalled by the idea that you went trolling for “abuse” videos to post here because you think we haven’t seen enough recently. :eek:

You should perhaps focus more on your own prayer and spiritual formation and not go out looking for issues to upset you.

Nonsense. I was watching a video of the Traditional Latin Mass and this video was posted as a response.
 
Why are we attacking Dauphin? This is a horrible video, and even if it was done outside of Mass it should not have been done in the Church. What happen to showing reverence and respect to the Blessed Sacrament?
 
The facts are incorrect surrounding the posting of this video.

What exactly is your definition of respect and reverence?
Absolute silence and non-movement? Reverence does not equal quiet. Reverence can mean a multitude of things, and I think its awfully haughty for someone to question the dancers’ reverence and respect. The hours they put into preparing it was not done out of “irreverence”. The fact that these young people were preparing this for Church and not out in the street in that area speaks volumes about their “reverence and respect” to me. and how do you know they didn’t remove the Eucharist for the event?

This was most likely part of their praise evenings during the week.

You must know that when an event that is not a Mass or other specific prayer service the Blessed Sacrament can be removed from the Tabernacle?

I am guessing this was done since several times someone who lives near this parish has said this was not done during a Mass!

My question to the OP is why he/she felt it necessary to post this here. Do those of you who find apparent abuses get a kick out of sharing them? Why not post the link to the positive video he/she watched, or at the very least post both links.

I just felt like sharing. That’s the general idea behind a forum. The Traditional Latin Mass video I was watching is very well-known, and I’m sure most people here have seen it. Here it is:
